Easy to understand

This was my first time doing my taxes online. I liked that it had step by step help if I needed it.
What's great about it: Easy to fill out dividend section, offers help in case you need it.
What's not so great: I was charged at the end for my state form when it said it was free?

Quick and easy

I have been using turbo tax for close to 20 yrs. Before turbo tax I was using a cpa tax pro at three or four times the cost of the turbo tax program. I found I was doing all the work organizing all the information and giving it to the tax preparer. All he was doing was loading the info on a tax program. A friend recommended turbo tax, I have to admit the first time I prepared my own taxes I was slow at it. Now I breeze right through the program. You purchase the program level of your return. My return has included, rental property, day trading, depreciation, daycare, solar and educational cost. I never thought I would attempt my own taxes.
What's great about it: You can use their guide prompting questions to complete the return. You can also work on the individual forms.
What's not so great: I really can' think of a con.

I have used TurboTax for probably 15 years. One year I had to switch from a mac computer to a pc and the transfer was seamless. A couple of suggestions I would like to see. Carryovers need to start with a reminder from previous years because we can't recall if we had a carryover (losses, mortgage points, etc.). "You have a -$1000 carry over from last year...etc, etc. Need an easy way to go back and change things...for example I noticed during a review that I was not using direct deposit and I went to forms and had a hard time finding it. Another thing is when you go back to check things--you have to answer all the questions again...like do you have a foreign bank account. Why can't it just remember you answered it already? Not sure why but when I print a copy to review, it cuts off the bottom and it is in color? I want to print in black and white and I want the choice to "fit or scale to page" when printing. I have to save a a pdf file and then print in b&w and scaled. Hope you can make some of these additions.
What's great about it: Easy Transfer Prior Years
What's not so great: I have a couple of suggested improvements

Personal Taxes

For something that that should take an hour or two at the most, I ended up spending about five hours. Most of that was due to attempting to understand terminology and explanations on some of the business related parts I have to deal with, and then rental property for the first time. Otherwise, I have been happy with Turbo Tax in the all of the years I have been using it.
What's great about it: Helps in getting through the tax mess each year
What's not so great: More detailed explanations of some of the tax terms need to be considered

Over 15 Years

We have been using Turbo Tax to do our taxes for over 15 years. It is so easy and we feel confident that the calculations are always correct and the forms are always filled out properly. We also love that Turbo Tax reminds us of deductions that we can take.
What's great about it: Super easy!!

Provide comparison files for various filing option

Each year I check to see if Married Filing Separately (MFS) vice Jointly (MFJ) will provide any benefit....unfortunately I have to start all over re-loading ALL of the same information that was already loaded...W2, etc. It would be great if you asked up front if I wanted to compare (MFJ vs MFS)...then you could ask specific questions about the data as its loaded so that you can then split and allocate the various incomes/deductions between the two individuals....
