2016 Turbo Tax experience a BIG let down for me
on March 6, 2016
Posted by: Charley1080
Why is it no longer enough to use my own account ID and password to complete e-filing and credit card payment? Your e-mail number generator spit out multiple six digit combinations, but NONE OF THEM WORKED when entered. Grrrr! Grateful for the Turbo Tax support rep (Ashley) who patiently helped me overcome the password block and took my credit card info. This human "dial around" option (on a Sunday no less!) was much appreciated and salvaged a really disappointing experience just inches from the filing finish line.
What's great about it: Really smooth sailing as in years past, UNTIL...
What's not so great: Locked out from e-filing and paying by that cursed "second layer of security" wall

a few updates
on March 6, 2016
Posted by: brianpeck
The only problem i had was the program kept wanting me to enter a W2 even though I have been retired a few years and should have known from my previous tax return that I was retired. Donated items work sheet. Two many items can be a problem i understand but it would be nice to be able to enter odd items be hand that are not on your lists.
What's great about it: mostly good
What's not so great: entering retirement income vs W2

Fast and nice!

The only area I had to revisit was the business related expenses. I know where from past experience it goes on the 2106 but not when it's in the question format of the program. I almost missed my per diem amount but figured it out.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Adding some business related expenses.

Basis for Calculations
on March 6, 2016
Posted by: RSTTU
1.You need to include a short explanation of how to use the forms section, specifically, that some data can only be entered or changed in the forms section.
2. You need to show how a number in the forms, especially the worksheets, is calculated and what data is used in the calculations.

why we need premier instead of deluxe?
on March 6, 2016

Only comment I want to make is the following:
You removed the investment section from the deluxe version so that everyone will buy the premier version.
I thought a mistake was made last year, so I went and bought the deluxe version this year and realized it was not a mistake. It was done purposely so that we will pay more for the same thing. If one does not have a business, why he/she has to buy premier version?
I have been using Turbotax for the last 20 years. But when I saw that you purposely did remove the investment section from deluxe, I decided to move to H&R Block software next year. I can get the same service for 50% of the price.
What's great about it: Same as deluxe version we had two years ago
What's not so great: expensive compared to deluxe.

Easier every year!
on March 6, 2016
Posted by: linmawoo
I use the Premier version. As I've said in the review title, TurboTax gets easier to use every year. I used "It's Deductible" this year and that simplified the process even more. I still remember when one had to put in all the data from investments. Wow, it's so much easier now.
What's great about it: Ease of use.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
