What's great about it: Pulling in MOST of my data from last year
What's not so great: viewing of forms and moving among different areas can be cumbersome. Got stuck in a loop trying to pay for Audit Defens
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

What I expected!

I do two returns, one simple one for my mother-in-law and one, more complex for myself. This one, the simpler one, took about 90 minutes walking through ALL questions of the guided tour. We had all the paperwork printed ahead of time and only had to do minimum research during the guided tour process. Provided there are no strange occurrences, like I had on my return for 2013-where checking a box that should not have been checkable (based on the answer to a previous question)-could not be unchecked and caused me to be taxed $400.00 I should not have been taxed, all should proceed smoothly.
What's great about it: Easy to follow guided instructions.
What's not so great: So far, none.

2015 Return Review
on March 4, 2016
Posted by: Peter1manno
The software worked pretty much as it should have. The pension income deduction for the state was troublesome as the instructions were not as clear as they could have been. No phone number is available to contact the help desk and nothing can substitute a face to face conversation. The review of the return did not catch an error I had made: Some income was credited to a taxpayer, but the SSN was another's.
What's great about it: By and large it did what it's advertised to do
What's not so great: Did not transfer 2014 records into 2015, although the return was there available.

I had software last year to do my taxes and my sister's . Software had difficulty with two separate returns. Kept wanting me to log in as me when I had to transfer and do my sister's returns. Even this did year when my sister purchased own copy of software on her computer. After pulling last year filing, software kept wanting me to log into intuit as me EVEN after I registered new software with my sister's information. Needs fixing.
What's great about it: good guidance through itemizing
What's not so great: Transferring previous years info could improve
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I am retired from working. Most of my income is fixed every month. Investments are variable. Turbo Tax accurately entered all of my investment activity flawlessly. All data was printed for my records. I always keep a paper copy separately.
What's great about it: Downloads accurate and complete
What's not so great: Estimated Taxes for next year could be better.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Distribution to Withholding Amount
on March 4, 2016
Posted by: Wagnerinne
On my state return I entered a distribution amount from an IRA into the block for the amount of tax withheld . Maybe you would have caught the error in a later review but I caught it when the amount of my state's refund was twice as much as the Federal refund. I just think something that suspicious should have been caught shortly after its entry.
What's great about it: After 15 years, I'm used to your foilbles
