What's great about it: Fairly straightforward
What's not so great: Depreciation categories and schedules not flexible, no way to apply overpayment to next years estimated payments

Great Turbo Tax Experience

The feelings of saving a lot of time, of using an expert tax system, and of completing/filing the taxes were very exciting.
What's great about it: Clear,concise, plenty of help,& a time saver
What's not so great: had to make a judgement call on a couple of help statements
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Problem Solved

As always, using Turbo Tax is easy and efficient.
However, when I popped the CD into my computer, the direction in the info window said "Drag disk to Application folder." I did this numerous times and couldn't get it to open. I spent an hour on the phone with a Turbo Tax rep and he couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong either. Finally, it occurred to me to drag the icon that is in the window, not the icon on the desktop into the Applications folder. Problem solved!

What's great about it: quick and easy directions to do my taxes
What's not so great: loading it onto my MAC. I didn't understand the upload directions.

I f we can't have a simple flat tax, then Turbo Tax is definitely needed to help simplify the filing process. Better yet, keeping track of expenditures through the year in Quicken works well with Turbo Tax. I've been using this for over 20 years. Can't conceive of finding a more useful tool.
What's great about it: The questions ensure that I don't miss anything. Saves much time by not having to research every item in the IRS code.
What's not so great: It's hard to go back to change things in some cases.

Love Turbo Tax. It seems to get easier every year. Only problem I had was form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit. What to do and why was not clear at all.
