Shocked by the additional fees.

By the time I purchased the program, and paid the additional filing fees it would have been cheaper to use my tax preparer, and saved myself a lot of work.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to understand.
What's not so great: The Turbo Tax processing fee - instead of file free.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good program. Bought a premier package that said included state return, but still had to pay extra to file. This isn't right. I should not have had to pay the extra. Package should have stated extra to e file.
What's great about it: able to load past year into program
What's not so great: Have to enter vehicle information in schedule e. Unable to just enter vehile expense by business miles.

What's great about it: Everything..... Walks you through everything maximizing deductions
What's not so great: Fee to file State and Fee to deduct from return

I am amazed each year at how easy Turbo Tax makes it to prepare and file tax returns. Don't expect Turbo Tax to organize your tax paperwork but do expect them to ask all of the questions to make you get organized.
What's great about it: Answer the TurboTax questions and you'll have a great experience.
What's not so great: You still have to have your tax paperwork organized.

Better than last year

TT actually introduced an error, which has never happened to me before, in entering transferred info from a financial institution--not the actual numbers, but the category in which an amount was listed. The good news is that it would not let me file the return until I found the problem. TT phone help was excellent.
What's great about it: The questions are generally clear and function well to establish the needed classifications.
What's not so great: Annoying to have to go through all the questions to make additions or revisions to particular parts.

quick and complete

If you used TurboTax last year and upload that information, things go very quickly.
I like best that it is very complete and will prompt you with questions for things you might not have realized you could deduct or itemize.
Remember to periodically save the file you are working on, since if it crashes midway (like mine did) you will have to start over from the beginning.

What's great about it: goes quickly especially if you used them last year
What's not so great: if you have something complicated like extra 1099's you may need to upgrade

2nd Year is even easier than the first!

I use it to do our MFJ return and then my four sons single returns. Turbo Tax is great for big families.
What's great about it: Easy, Fast, Efficient way to do taxes.
What's not so great: Hard to go back and find or change things.
Pros: I moved
