Getting easier and easier

Was paying way too much, and not getting the satisfaction I was looking for from past cpa experience, not in refunds, but a little itty bitty respect. I figure I can possibly make a mistake, and possibly be audited. I really don't think the fine would be as much as I was paying others to do the taxes for me. Had a issue come up, turbo saying I had to fill in a box, and I knew I didn't need to. I used their help system, and found the answer I needed.
What's great about it: Beats the heck out of paying someone WAY too much money, when turbo makes it so easy!
What's not so great: Not all address data transfers from fed to state, some, but not all...?

I have been using turbo tax for years and it was only the last few years I was required dates of purchase and sales of funds. But this year I purchased the premier and I was not asked those questions. It was quick and easy; what I had always been accustomed to.
What's great about it: Don't know why but I had difficulty installing Premier 2015
What's not so great: I got help after 2 hours on the phone, and no problem w/the form.

The federal is great. However, the state of Louisiana is terrible. I have the state booklet before me and so much of Turbo Tax was incorrect or did not catch everything that is deductible, I will have to do my statereturn manually.
What's great about it: The federal is great.
What's not so great: The Louisiana Turbo Tax is TERRIBLE. So much was incorrect or missing. I will have to do my state taxes manually.

Tax Prep 2015

Cost was way to high for down loading state returns. Then you had to pay to e-file them as well. Also, program was confused when I went to e-file. I had returns for several different people, for several different states, and the program thought all of the states were for the first person I e-filed for. I had to de-select the wrong states even though the names were different on the different returns. Also, I took me a while to find the help topic info. You could not access it by the HELP menu.
What's great about it: Pulled data from previous tax years. Was clear on most things.
What's not so great: Cost for down loading state returns!! Also program was confused due to multiple returns.

Fsirly Simplistic

I'm a retired tax professional and had very little problems with the program. I felt that the language was very understandable for a novice.
My only confusion was the questions on the pensions. There are still plenty of people out there with pensions that don't require a RMD. I felt I was answering it incorrectly but I had to or I got in a loop. The math came out correctly but it was a little frustrating.
other than that, it was pretty easy to cross all the T's and dot all I's.
What's great about it: Good flow, understandable language
What's not so great: Some questions were overdone or not as clear as expected
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Incremental Tax Preparation

In the 90's, I prepared an interactive EXCEL spreadsheet with all the embedded worksheets to provide a printout that I ultimately had to transcribe to paper forms. However, the Tax code continuously changes and every year I ended up spending hours combing through all the pertinent worksheets and forms for changes. Now, TurboTax does this automatically for the Fed and State returns and fills in all the proper forms properly for personal retention. Carryover from previous years return is also a real time saver.
The order in which I usually fill out the forms is completing all the charitable donation inputs (about 30), all the income associated pensions and SSA, all the quarterly taxes paid, all the car and personal property taxes paid and lastly all the brokerage transactions. My final check on credits usually yields little or no changes since my circumstances are very simple with no debts, or mortgage payments to contend with.
What's great about it: Program allows input as information is received
