Was not pleased with the health care section. when I filled out the original section it said that I did not need to do this since he was listed as a dependent. I pressed continue and then when the review came around it put me in this endless do loop of not having all required information. I finally had to pull up the forms to see what the issue was. Very Annoying! Also the security for e-file was annoying.
What's great about it: Had retained a lot of info from last year
What's not so great: For my son, it would have been quicker to just fill out the forms.

More explanation of entries should be available. Contact persons should be made available to answer general questions.

Not really the fault of Turbo-Tax, but some sections are still really confusing to move through... especially the healthcare section.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Still confusing!

With 1099Rs only tax free accounts such as IRAs need a Minimum Requirement Distribution, not pensions, therefore, MRD questions are not needed for pensions.
When composing the Form 5329 Waiver, it would be great to have a text area like this one so that one could easily write down the information instead of the short text lines.
What's great about it: Guide to do taxes
What's not so great: Processing of 1099Rs and Form 5329 Waiver input

Reliable, Accurate and Rock Solid

I have used TurboTax for decades and rely on its accuracy and its flexibility of operation to save me time, aggravation, and money I would otherwise have to pay a tax preparer. I use the Premier edition which enables me to quickly tally portfolio data; it also has a detailed "Schedule C" which I have used for LLC data input (though business is currently inactive). One of the features related to portfolio income is its tracking of tax-loss carry forward data, which enables off-setting current income. Since I file estimated taxes, with the last payment due in January following the tax year, I do a "rough" work up of my taxes with estimates of portfolio income in early December. This enables me to adjust the January payments if needed. TurboTax is so quick and easy to use that I actually enjoy subsequent runs with actual data as I receive it. There is no question that I would spend many more frustrating hours doing my taxes without it...or, paying a hefty fee to a tax preparer!
What's great about it: Enables working at your pace, with data on-hand. Multiple modes let you work from "novice" to "expert" expertise level.
What's not so great: Estimated taxes worksheet (for next year) could be more intuitive.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
