Kept My Foreign Tax Credit

While I had a considerable foreign tax credit beginning in 2014, it was difficult to find how to keep the carryover going, until I called TurboTax (Support ID 415641727) and received guidance. Smooth sailing from there, but I would have appreciated a more obvious link to how to proceed.
What's great about it: Better guidance than before
What's not so great: Not very obvious how to utilize carryover of FTC

This software obviously has tremendous capabilities to deal with all kinds of tax-related situations. Fortunately, my current tax situation is very straight forward, however, it is reassuring to know that this software has the ability to handle much more complicated cases if the need should arise.
What's great about it: Very quick and easy and it saved the money I would otherwise have needed for a tax preparer.
What's not so great: It was too much fun for filing taxes!

Have small acreage. Had a very small 1099-PATR. Could not find place to report this information.
What's not so great: Need to add the 10 colums of 1099-PATR to tax forms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Taz 2015

Generally easy to use and likely will purchase again.
Glitches: Brought forward last year's information and when I imported brokerage info, it crated a duplicate form for dividends. luckily I caught it in a manual review; however, a duplicate entry should have been either prevented or recognized as an error.
No link or help to NAIC codes.
Carried forward forms from a prior year that weren't needed and prompted for values on them in the error review. Very annoying.
What's great about it: Easy to Navigate, generally adequate help
What's not so great: Very slow to start up.

Makes filing easy

Turbo tax makes filing really easy. I was done in less than 6 hours and that includes importing info from brokerage accounts. I have used turbo tax for 20 years and I really like it. The cost really changed when I had to go from basic to premier last year.
What's great about it: Imports info from my brokerage account
What's not so great: Cost has gone up significantly from 2 years ago when I used basic

2015 tax return

Have used Turbo tax for many years. Makes it easy. Recently moved to a state that has income tax so I am now using that feature also. Very helpful as I learn the new states tax system. Highly recommend.
What's great about it: easy to follow. Able to lock into investment company and have numbers put on return.
What's not so great: none

Takes the confusion out of doing your taxes

TurboTax greatly simplifies the process of doing your taxes with it's straight forward option of asking you about each and every possible item in an easy to understand process from income to deductions to final file.
What's great about it: Simplifys the process, Easy download of all investment data
What's not so great: Lots of waiting for updates each time the program is started
