I have used this product now for a number of years...so obviously it works for me. My only complaint is that I think it is too expensive and state filing should also be free.

25+ years with TurboTax

I have used TurboTax every year for at least the past 2+ decades. Easy interview type questions to help fill out taxes. Some troubles with unusual circumstances (out of state tuition and forms). Depend on each year to be accurate.
However, this is the first year we've had to file in two state because of college student part-time income. The fees are outrageous to report part-time income from another state. Gave up the entire income just to cover the cost of a second state on our taxes. Need to fix this.

2016 Turbo Tax

We use it every year and it really helps it getting the taxes completed quickly. Would like to see more automation on the state taxes and less manual input. Instruction aren't always clear for the state returns.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great instructions
What's not so great: State forms are more Manual

Bumpy Ride

Here's why I didn't give TTax a 5:
I don't use the full wizard approach. I complete the sections I know apply to me. It wasn't until after I had entered some sections that TTax asked if I would like to download from my brokerage. When I did, it erased what I had entered. It would be best to present the download option before the users starts manual entry without the wizard. Also, if TTax download will delete previous effort, then warn the user with as much detail as possible.
2. The HSA section is very confusing when coverage is for family. The word "you" is asked in many questions and I didn't know if that referred to the taxpayer or the Spouse. IT matters a lot! Use the name of the person instead of "you". You have those names.
Here's why I didn't give TTax a 2. I was very impressed with the redo for Georgia taxes. TTax handled the Retirement Exclusion well and saved me $ on Retirement ''Other Income" I had overlooked.

The instructions are clear and the guides are easy to follow. The review is great, it showed me that a double entry had been done on one transaction, so it saved me a good amount of money

I tried Tax Act last year. TURBO TAX IS DEFINITELY BETTER.

Done in record time!

Every time Turbo Tax processed/calculated, I got switched to the Windows Home screen. Really annoying.
Help topics (when clicked on) did not come up automatically. I had to go out to the Home screen to find them. An added annoyance was that to read them, I couldn't just click on them. (That took me back to the main program.) It took a little while to realize I had to RIGHT click and then maximize from that menu.
Please fix for next year!
What's great about it: The imports for dividends and interest went well, Help topics were clear
What's not so great: Windows 10
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
