Family returns

I do all my family returns every year so I get a varied experience with the different tax returns involved. It appeared to be even easier this year though that may be because I've done them on TurboTax for several years. (I used to do them manually! UGH!) My only complaint is the charitable contributions other than money. I just gave up on that- it was too time consuming. Otherwise, good experience! Good Job TurboTax.

Great Experience

I have been using TurboTax for several years and trust the returns I have prepared. I did one for my mother this year, then she got something unexpected from my deceased father's account and took it to a CPA to review. He said the return had been completed correctly, which gave me more confidence than ever.
What's great about it: So very easy to use. Able to import information instead of typing.
What's not so great: None

Not up to the usual TurboTax standards!

I had to manually update TurboTax three or four times because the automatic updater would hang up (seemingly) every time I started TurboTax.
I am a long time user of TurboTax for personal and business returns and I haven't encountered anything like this before. Please get it fixed before next year.
What's great about it: Data entry and step by step process was great
What's not so great: The automatic update process is horrible

OK Experience

In general, the experience was okay, but as some of the calculations are done "behind the scenes," I feel a little unsure of the results and just have to "trust" that the system is working correctly, i.e. using my input correctly--realizing that bad info "in" results in bad info "out." ALSO, very disappointed that prior year's (2014) tax return information was not available thru Turbo Tax and so had to input all information again.
What's great about it: Intuitive and easy to navigate
What's not so great: Some of the "results" on specific items one just has to trust
Pros: I bought or sold investments

At the last moment when e-filing, some 1099-R forms needed another box filled in (box 14) - the 1099-R form was blank as was entered - why was this not covered in the review section and why was I asked to "change" the form entry - if this should be filled in, why didn't the institution do it, if not, why didn't Turbotax just deal with it - I am left with the feeling that something is not quite right. Otherwise, I appreciate the simple flow of questions in the step by step method which I always use - I am a 10 plus year TurboTax user.
What's great about it: Handled all 1099s seemlessly
What's not so great: when ready to efile, then received some questions on entered forms instead of in review section
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great program. I've used TT for quite a few years & it's always worked well for me. The directions are clear, it seems to cover every aspect of any tax situation, it's anticipatory in that it 'figures' what estimated tax payments to make to avoid owing taxes next year, etc. Good results with Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Easy to use, clear instructions
What's not so great: none that I can think of right now
