2nd Year = Even Easier!
on February 21, 2016

We found this year's review to be really simple. All of our information from last year, including number amounts was carried over. This really helped with filling out this year's information. Turbo Tax even had ways to help us save money as a military family. We truly appreciated this!
What's great about it: All information from last year was transferred in.
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Trusted year after year
on February 21, 2016

I find this program easy to use no matter how difficult my deductions become every year. I've itemized for years, with business expenses, and have multiple properties that all must be accounted for properly. If I didn't trust Turbo Tax to make sure the taxes were being done correctly, I'd find a different source.
What's great about it: TT walks me through every possible scenario so that the program is asking questions, & causing me to ask good questions.
What's not so great: Honestly have not come across any after all these years. I trust TT to get my taxes right.
Pros: I bought or sold investments, I moved

Misleading advertising
on February 21, 2016

Disappointed in misleading advertising for Turbotax. I needed state and federal long forms and i have to report on one rental property. I previously used a different tax software. Advertising lead me to believe i need the Premium edition due to my rental income. Not true- later found the Deluxe edition would have done the trick at less cost.
What's great about it: software generally ran well.
What's not so great: Deceptive advertising for rental income - premium not necessary

Fastest return in the south

Turbo Tax is very easy to use and downloaded almost all of my income directly from my employer and investment accounts. This saves me from accidentally typing something incorrectly. In my opinion, it is much easier to use than H&R Block's Tax Cut software. I was a part time tax instructor and we were required to use the software for the class. Many of my students struggled to use it.
What's great about it: easy to use and quickly imports data
What's not so great: a little pricey, but still worth it

I really like the fact that Turbotax takes me thru all the steps, or allows me to go where I need to go if I already know that certain things do not pertain to my life and my tax return
What's great about it: easy to follow steps and options to go only to the areas I know I need to go
What's not so great: TAXES
Pros: I had a baby

Most Usable Tax Software

I'm a User Researcher by trade. I've seen productive software at a level most people in the industry cannot even contemplate. Year after year, TurboTax continues to improve the guided experience. I'm inspired! And ready to be hired.
What's great about it: Guided me like a professional, I trust my return
What's not so great: Wished I could import more of my income into TurboTax
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

Parent's refund
on February 21, 2016
Posted by: barbholc
the Parent's refund return is for my father in law (96 years old# who lives in Maryland. Because I wanted him to pay for the extra state #and I haven't done my own return for Federal and PA), I added the Pennsylvania return first and then the Maryland one. I charged his credit card for the Maryland one, and did the MD for him, but absolutely could not get rid of the PA return which had his name and SS on it. I finally put info in as not taxed in PA and so had no income in PA, and so did not file it. But I would have liked to delete it from his return altogether. I have used Turbo Tax for years so am used to it and the rest went well.
What's great about it: Seems to work well
What's not so great: I couldn't get rid of an extra state return.
