Effortless

This app is almost flawless. The only glitch was I couldn't print the PDFs stored from the E-file screen. But if you say you are mailing the return...you can print from there. Just an extra step.
What's great about it: Seamless from front to back. Intuitive and flexable.
What's not so great: Can't print to printer from the E-file screen..only preview works
Pros: I moved

Another year of quick and easy returns
on February 21, 2016
Posted by: GLee516
1. I used a combination of Forms and Step-by-Step
The worked seamlessly together.
2. I entered all Medical information only once.
I couldn't deduct Medical on Fed.
But did so on state (or at least TurboTax did#.
3. I imported year's financial info from Quicken.
TurboTax should indicate that HSA account info needs
to be imported to make completion of tax forms easy.
4. Confusing handling of HSA account.
Some questions did not have obvious answers.
Almost all of my medical expenses were covered by my
HSA account.
5. TurboTax did not warn me that Fidelity hadn't created all
my tax forms.
There used to be a law that all tax forms had to be received
by Jan 31.
I downloaded all of my forms available from Fidelity.
Only after I filed my returned did the Fidelity website
suddenly indicate that my brokerage 1099 forms were
preliminary. #And they still are as of 2/21/2016!)
So now I will have to file an amended tax form after Fidelity
gets its act together and completes my 1099 forms!
And TurboTax won't file amended returns! I have to print
and mail the amended return!
What's great about it: Did both Fed and State quickly and easily
What's not so great: Still charged to file state return; Didn't handle HSA very well

I have been working with TurboTax for many years now. I find the format and data entry very well thought-out. I shall continue for many more years - thank you.
What's great about it: Worked as always has for me for many years. The tutorial / entry details are great
What's not so great: Did not import all of data from prior year's (2014) return; I had to hand enter a lot that I did not need to for 2014 re

Actually makes filing painless

I spent years doing my taxes by hand. Set a day aside, set the dining room table aside, stocked up on extra forms for errors, pencils, turned off phone. The older I got, the more complicated the taxes got until I got into the alternative minimum tax thing (the old one) and it was so confusing I didn't want to do it a second time. Sooo, the next year I went to the usual tax prep place (initials left out). By the time they were done they said I owed money. Told them I didn't, redid the taxes myself, showed them what they did wrong, how much refund I was getting. Turned out to be the same amount they were charging me for their service! Then they offered me a job. Didn't take it.
What's great about it: Easily steps you through everything
What's not so great: Haven't found any yet
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax is Great
on February 21, 2016

All in all a great tool. Have been using it for years and every year it gets just a little bit better. Sure saves time and trouble of having to take taxes to someone else to do. I use an upgraded version because I have investments and rental properties. It is still very easy to use.
What's great about it: Ease of use, embedded forms, choice to find your own way or let it walk you through
What's not so great: some questions are worded a little weird - wish they were asked a different way
Pros: I bought or sold investments
