A small need for improvement

Allowing a double click on a square to take you to the worksheet where the info should be inputted would be helpful. Sometimes it was hard to find where that input place was.
What's great about it: Suggestions for input were nice
What's not so great: How to correct errors was not always clear
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It tries to make everything so easy, but it really fails in many instances. You can tell when you start using the various help files and explanations, that they have not been fully written. The explanations seem incomplete.
I wish there was a competing product but there really isn't
What's great about it: It's the only product out there, no where else to go
What's not so great: Not as good as the manufacturer thinks it is
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good product but would like to be able to print input as well as informational screens while preparing the return, e.g. screen that shows the electronic PIN numbers when electronically filing.
What's great about it: Comprehensive and relatively easy to use
What's not so great: Can't print screens
Pros: I bought or sold investments

K-1 forms are killers
on October 14, 2016

I think TurboTax does a very poor job of helping you through the process of filling in K-1 forms. There are parts where you have to fill in information but there is also a statement that says this information has to also be added elsewhere on the return, but then provides zero guidance about where else this needs to be added. Isn't this why I buy a program like TurboTax so I only have to enter it once? Couldn't they at least provide some helpful hints about how to find out where this information needs to be added. Bottom line is that if you have K-1 forms, don't bother with Turbo Tax - just hire a CPA.
What's not so great: K-1 Forms

The end game

There should be a tool to backup the TT data file to a local storage device - typically a USB memory stick. Using Windows skills is a little confusing because the data file name and parth are not obvious.
Printing sort of drifts through Windows Print Preview leaving you to use Windows skills to get it to actually print.
It is not clearly stated that the state (CA) filing copy already includes the required federal return. (Messed around printing additional federal return copies to attach to the state - needless waste of time and paper!)
What's great about it: Guides you through the steps to enter the data. Allows going back to edit or add to prior items
What's not so great: To much dependenced on Windows skill to backup data file and printing

Getting complicated

The Premier edition is necessary for employee stock & option handling, but includes a lot of unusual content, that makes the whole process take longer, and seems more confusing. I think I'm approaching the point where I need expert help - the hard part is figuring out the data to input to TurboTax.
What's great about it: seems really thorough
What's not so great: I need more guidance re: employee stock & options
Pros: I bought or sold investments
