Best Tax Software I know of, but still quite bad

I don't know of a better tax software, but that does not mean it's good! Additionally, I'm now locked in since I like to reuse my previous year's .tax file to import from for the new return.
My biggest gripe is that it's not very intuitive: When I press the "Back" button more often than not do I end up not on the previous page I was looking at, but rather somewhere where I have no idea to go back to the page I was just working on.
A lot of times I want to change a number, but there is no straight-forward way to visit just that number and I have to click through repetitive screens.
And why would the tool ask me how I like to pay for my tax payment when I'm getting refunds, both from the federal and the state return? It's unbelievably silly.
What's great about it: Gets the job done, but not as efficiently as I would hope
What's not so great: In many cases not intuitive behavior at all

Highly recommend TurboTax to anyone that has multiple properties (primary home, Summer home, and Rental property) and capital investments.
What's great about it: Smooths out complexity making it all so simple!
What's not so great: Nothing I disliked at all ... gets better each year!

TurboTax Is Poorly Designed At Best
on October 14, 2016

It runs in mysterious ways and is not at all transparent. The user really doesn't know what is going on. We just have to sit and answer questions some of which seem redundant.
It doesn't work well with the Mac. You would think that by now they would have smoothed out the problems but no they appeared again this year.
I keep saying to myself that this is the last year I am going to put up with this garbage but...
What's great about it: It does bring up seemingly all areas to consider..
What's not so great: It is clunky, hard to get around and to get back to where I want.

The filing Instructions were to mail in my New York State and Federal returns, along with instructions that I had to e-file in NY.
What's not so great: I missed a box for NY that indicated that there were no foreign bank accounts.
