Looking for a new option

Last year's requirement to upgrade to more expensive software was a disappointment. This year I'm still frustrated by the extra cost plus the cost for e-filing the state tax returns. As a retired accountant, I do the returns for my family and friends and I'm looking for a software that will reduce my fees. This is the last year I'll be using turbo tax for returns and e-filing.
Intuit has done the same thing with QuickBooks. As a former QB proadvisor, I was always recommending the program. Now I'm recommending businesses look at other alternatives. The produce doesn't justify the extra fees that keep getting added on.
Intuit was a good option for small businesses and do-it-yourself tax preparers. Unfortunately the costs are making it more affordable to go to find a professional.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax does an okay job for returns
What's not so great: Forced to upgrade to more expensive software for minor changes in tax situation

So easy to use

I can always depend on Turbo Tax to guide me in preparing all of my forms. I have been using Turbo Tax since 1997
What's great about it: Step by step helps with new changes of all forms.GREAT
What's not so great: 1099 Interest needs to be included.

Loved my refund

Easy to use. Have used since the 90s. I like you can play with different options before reaching your final such as married, married filing separately etc
What's great about it: I put in the information and it calculated as I went along
What's not so great: It was a little scary when it showed I owed a lot of money but then .. it reduced as I went along

What a program!

We have been using TurboTax for many years and I cannot say enough about it. They have everything there, easy to follow, up to date and understandable for the general public. We will continue to use TurboTax for a long time.

Close to perfect, used for years

I've wondered why certain obvious bugs keep showing up year after year. I have to check my old returns to find the total area and business area of my house for the final check, even though I saw it automatically entered from the last return on another form. I've seen similar issues with other "why aren't you just looking at where I entered it before?" issues. Not many, but a few. Apart from that, perfect. I like doing my own taxes so I can keep a running log of receipt index numbers and deduction to expense ratios in Excel.
What's great about it: Solid, accurate system with good reference material. Easy to answer questions in seconds
What's not so great: Occasional rookie mistakes - see below.

Been easy to use since 1995!

Intuit TurboTax should provide a free guide to new users to aid them in organizing earlier in the year prior to filing. A simple questionnaire can suffice and get new users organized.
What's great about it: Easy guide system
What's not so great: For first timers you need to advised prior how to organize

pretty darn good

I've been using turbo tax for about 7 years and it's always great. this year it was a little buggy and stopped working a couple of time, but with a quick restart of the PC. it picked up right where I left off.
What's great about it: easy, especially with a home and small business
What's not so great: little buggy this year
