Clunky At Times, Smooth Sailing Other Times

I have been using TurboTax for many years. My tax situation is rather complex, as my wife and I are both self-employed and own sole proprietorships with no employees. In addition, we have interests in several partnerships, s-corps and real estate, which complicates things a lot. While Intuit has done a great job of implementing the "Easy Step" function in Q&A format, it is often very time consuming and difficult to complete our joint return. This is mostly because of the complexities of the tax code and rules, but there are situations where I just don't know what is being asked or have difficulty comprehending how to answer a question or fill in a blank.
What's great about it: Carried Over Most Info from Prior Years; Comprehensive Coverage
What's not so great: Hard to get answers to questions; some areas confusing or difficult

Overall Good BUT...

TurboTax has a free version that includes FREE EFILING for both federal and state if your AGI is less than $31,000. BUT if you find that out after the fact when they're charging you $25 to efile your state return, you cannot import your work from the paid version to take advantage of the free state efiling.. This really ticks me off!

Couldn't file without TurboTax!

User for more than 10 years, and I wouldn't try to do home & business taxes without TurboTax!
What's great about it: step-by-step instructions, user friendly, updates as they become available

Thorough questioning during interview process. Same as when I used to go to a live tax professional. I appreciate the checklist of documents you need to have on hand before starting the process. I appreciate that you can go back and forth between sections of the process. I appreciate the review process and check and double check. I appreciate E-filing and the audit protection.
