I was an early adopter, way back.
I don't understand why everybody does not use TT.
I recommend TT to anyone that will listen.
Keep up the good work!
What's great about it: Logical, Accurate, Easy to use
What's not so great: None that I can see

Very good program with some complexities
on October 11, 2016

I have been using TurboTax for about 10 years and have always loved it. I noticed that this year is more complex than in past years (maybe the tax code is more complex which is very possible!). There used to be more info in the sidebars, but now you go to other search pages for details. I have always wished that you could go back through the sections that you've already completed without having to re-answer some of the questions. Some answers stay, and you need to catch what answers were deleted. Lastly, I have always been able to charge to TT fees (state filing fee, for example) with a credit card, but, even after trying several times, the box stayed frozen, only allowing me to pay from my refund. Annoying!
Overall, though, I will use this product again next year, just hoping they address some of these issues!
What's great about it: Automatically knows what you qualify for so simplifies that part. Easy to save/flag pages. A lot of help available.
What's not so great: More complex than in past years with less immediate info available, but can go to other pages.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

what happens with turbotax?

I HAVE USED THIS FOR A LOT OF YEARS, BUT THIS 2015 AND 2014 WERE THE MOST DIFFICULT-TO USE VERSIONS;
IF TRY TO ACCESS TO HELP, THE PROGRAM CLOSES
IF TRY TO SAVE EACH TIME THAT SOME INFO IS WRITTEN, THE PROGRAM CANNOT SAVE THE WORK DONE, GOES DOWN
IF TRY TO RECOVER A FILE, THE PROGRAM CLOSES AGAIN
I AM CONSIDERING DO NOT USE MORE TURBOTAX
What's great about it: almost none
What's not so great: go down thousand times! closes and then, restart again

State Inc. Tax Deduction
on October 12, 2016
Posted by: CarGo14
On Federal Sched. A, State Inc. Tax Deduction, I always enter the amount of NJ income I actually owed rather than the estimated and/or withheld amounts (so that it's stated correctly and I don't have to deal with refund income the next year) but when I override the 'paid-to-date' amounts, it prevents me from being able to e-file. Because of this deficiency in your program, I had to file a return with a knowingly mis-stated amount. This desperately needs to be fixed.
Thanks.

2015 suggestions

In schedule C (for business), program asks for "Communication" expenses but prints it out as "Utilities" (which later leads to confusion about "Utilities" allocated as part of Home Office calculations)
In the printing, if one choses to "Save as a PDF" - before actually printing - then all the selections made are lost when it comes time to actually print forms - either to mail or for files...and the whole process needs to be repeated to print. Can't the "save" process be followed by the "print" function directly ?
What's great about it: Overall a godsend !
What's not so great: Couple of "issues"

I couldn't determine where to send my state return by mail. It's usually on the print out, but I couldn't print out that information. Probably because I was not given the option to mail my state return.
What's great about it: Overall good!
What's not so great: Option not available for mailing my state return. Also explain AMT before you ask if I want to check that option.
