Long Process but Good Process

It was easier for me because I have been completing the forms manually for several years. I like that the information is transferred to the State forms which made the time for completing the state document minimal.
What's great about it: The questions for the most part were straight forward. I liked that you stated whyyour were asking the questions.
What's not so great: A few times I had to change information because I put it in the wrong place and later got to the appropriate section.

2015 Tax Prep Experience

Preparing my own return was straightforward, having used TurboTax in the past. Preparing my elderly mother's delinquent returns, both Federal and for another state, was more of a challenge. The TurboTax process reduced my stress and got the task accomplished.
What's great about it: Clear. Intuitive. Helpful instructions when needed.
What's not so great: None

TurboTax help

Customer service rep for service ticket188395 was supposed to call back today with an answer to my question but didn't. I had to file without knowing how to handle and issue that came up while working on this year's return that was related to importing data from last year.
What's great about it: Talked to someone in the U.S.
What's not so great: Long wait, transferred twice, never called back.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Probably the best tax prep product out there

I have used Turbo Tax for a few years and appreciate the fact that it transfers data from many sources; prior year returns, fed to state, forms 1099 from certain financial institutions and, if you have a business, from Quick Books to their business version. It can be a bit cumbersome, which is why I did not give it 5 stars, but if you have some tax knowledge, you can navigate the programs pretty well, or use the community help feature to get answers. I use TurboTax Business for my LLC, Turbo Tax Home and Business for my personal returns and Quick Books to keep the books for my LLC. Thanks, Intuit.
What's great about it: Transfers data from prior years, Quick Books and financial institutions
What's not so great: Extra costs for state eFiling and returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall it is a good program. Fairly easy to use, but I'm an accountant and familiar with taxes for individuals and businesses.
The like kind exchange was a little hard to navigate.
What's great about it: Everything rolling forward from prior year
What's not so great: Had a like kind exchange. More detail on where this amount comes from would have been helpful.

I don't know much about taxes but Turbo tax helped me tackle it one step at a time and helped me save a bunch of money!

Always works

Very few things to complain about. As long as I've taken the time to go through ALL my Quicken entries (using the Cash Flow report for the year) and corrected mistakes that crept in over the year, then it's a breeze to complete my taxes, even given that I'm self-employed and there a quite a few "oddities" to sort through.
What's great about it: Easy to use, filing is quick and easy
What's not so great: I have to add my 1099s and deduct by hand from my total consulting income (not all send 1099s)
