Turbo tax almost does the job by it's self.
What's great about it: I wouldn't switch for the world.
What's not so great: I can't think of any at my age.

This product was horrible. Took over 5 minutes each time to get the app opened. Constant 'calculation mode' stuck for 10-15 minutes; had to shut down and re-enter info many times. Horrible product. I have been using turbo tax for over 20 years, this was horrible.
What's great about it: step by step guidence
What's not so great: App slow to open;' stuck in calc mode; unresponsive

Great product. TurboTax has been my friend for years. I do not have to worry. Just punch in the appropriate numbers. I don't know what happened though in the last version, but when I try to enter my mileage for the year and only enter my business trips, the program brings me on a big analysis of miles driven for every purpose and then for business and do I own the car and when did I acquire it, etc. That's a bit much and I liked the other way much better. But overall I would not use another program.
What's great about it: Fastest Tax Program
What's not so great: Efile gets paid for and you can't efile after a certain date

Turbo Tax is Great!

I've been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years already. I really like the way Turbo Tax enters any pertinent information from the prior return, so it it not necessary to re-enter numerous items that are included each year (such as names, addresses, etc). Step-by-Step is extremely easy to navigate and provides tax information from prior years by item, so comparison is easy when filling out current year info.
What's great about it: My favorite part of using Turbo Tax is the download process directly into Turbo Tax from my Financial Institutions.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Used it for years. No problems experienced from IRS - yet. Keep spreadsheets of data through the year so usually have most of the data at hand. Don't enjoy doing tax returns, but TurboTax does make it sweeter!
What's great about it: Coaches one through the process
What's not so great: takes time - but since when did tax returns not take time!

Thorough & Helpful Overall; but Sometimes Sluggish

I've been using TurboTax for many years now, and because I have complex business / personal tax situations, the program has been extremely useful for making sure that I remember to include all aspects of income and all possible deductions and credits. Most calculations happen automatically, and those that need to happen manually are usually not difficult to figure out. With complex returns, though, the program gets sluggish, taking several seconds to respond to mouse clicks, and taking up to a full minute to save the file.
What's great about it: Thorough and complete with regard to tax situations; Most calculations automatic
What's not so great: Sluggish with complex returns

Everything went fine, except i deleted a mortgage lender that only held the loan a short time, but it was the lender that had the entry for my mortgage points amortization. I was asked for a confirmation that I wanted to delete the entry, but I should have been reminded/warned that this lender had a points amortization from the prior year. Had to go back to my last years records, which was a bit of a pain, to recreate the amortization.
What's great about it: Methodical
What's not so great: Lets you delete history you shouldnt
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
