It's good...the best there is...a couple if minor tweaks and it will be perfect...
What's great about it: ease of the system
What's not so great: inability to print specific tax forms at the end

Oops, filed late

I know it's probably the tax process in general, but I found it to be quite difficult, and I've been working in technology for 30 years. I filed my federal taxes on time, or so I thought, only to find out when I went in to file state taxes, that my federals had never been filed. When I filed them again, I remember going through all the same screens but have no idea why they didn't file. I got TT because it was the first year I had a small business and I needed some way to print W-2's.
What's great about it: Step by step process
What's not so great: Still didn't know what some questions were asking me
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

As usual I found Turbo Tax easy to use. Had to go to forms sesion 2 times to delete old forms that were not needed this year.v
What's great about it: Easy to use, explains tax law well;
What's not so great: Price keeps creapng up. Little tax law change between 2014 and 15.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Federal to State

Every thing worked great until I got to the State Return and upon review, it kept asking me to fill in Schedule 511, Section C, Line 6. I did not have a clue what to enter there because TurboTax always moves over what is needed from the Federal Return. I slept on it over the weekend and this morning I ran another analysis and the errors were gone. Magic! All that being said, TurboTax has saved me over $2,000 in the three years I have used it verses using the H&R Block tax preparers locally ($750+ yr). Also, it is my first Federal Refund in over twenty years!
What's great about it: Just as great as last two years
What's not so great: A return with several oil/gas producers could be just a little easier.

Rock Solid

I have been using TurboTax since 1994. I have gone head to head against tax professionals in the past, and after looking things up to verify it on the IRS website, TurboTax has consistently beat the pros. I will NEVER pay someone else to do my taxes!
What's great about it: Very Thourough
What's not so great: Cannot use tab or "enter" to move through fields

did my complicated taxes

1. interview seems arbitrarily changed from last year.
2. error in 2015 VA state 529 deduction was fixed, but it was extremely difficult to get a straight answer about status and timing of fix. The related/same bug for 2014 VA state tax form was not fixed even though I pointed it out too.
3. failure to maintain compatibility with my 2008 MacBook caused problems. and now I have to keep that computer since it has all my previous TT forms and get a new computer for the next several years... just to do taxes.

What's not so great: VA state interview/form had bug that erroneously overdeducted tax credit for 529. didnt work on 2008 macbook.
