Disappointed

Payment for efiling was totally a waist of time. I spent over 20 minutes trying to obtain passwords, etc. I just printed and will mail them in. Save everyone a lot of time and just tell them to print and mail them in.
What's great about it: walked me through the process
What's not so great: I couldn't auto load last years taxes.

Getting There - Not Quite Half the Fun
on April 23, 2016

We had to upgrade to Home & Business product again this year; we missed out on the "consolation refund" for last year's upgrade because it expired before our extension did.
I appreciate the thoroughness of the step-by-step system because of the complexity of our taxes now. I used to do them on a spreadsheet in parallel to TT but have given up on even trying that now with self-employment in the picture. Now it's either TurboTax or a service, and I plan to stick with TT.
They have made navigating the system very easy. I had to go back and forth numerous times to double-check obscure bits of data, and getting to where I needed to go without screwing up the return was always a welcome relief. Tax time is nerve-wracking to begin with, and TT does make it easier. I wish I could remember what I could not find in the help system ... but I think I have repressed it.
Very good product overall.
What's great about it: Thorough system, accurate calculations, clear instructions for the most part
What's not so great: Could not find answers to a few questions, either on the blog or in the help screens - wish I could remember them
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Almost Fun to Prepare Taxes
on April 23, 2016

I've used TurboTax for over ten years. As one who waits until the last minute to file, it is a great tool for addressing all areas of tax preparation. The updated application and interface make it easy to use.
What's great about it: Quick and easy way to move through the process of filing your taxes.
What's not so great: If you address an issue while working in another part of the application, it is difficult to get back.

Everything is great, EXCEPT, I would think that the leader in the accounting industry would have figured out how to get two of their best selling programs to work together.
What's great about it: great functionality
What's not so great: can't import info from Intuit Quickbooks Pro

Not notified that tax payment was rejected!
on April 24, 2016

I filed federal and state return and received "return accepted" notice on Turbo Tax for status. But little did I know that my tax payment had been rejected by my bank until I received a letter a week later from IRS. Why didn't Turbo tax notify me?? I c checked my e-payment and sent payment again before due date of return.
What's not so great: Tax return accepted but no notice from Turbo Tax that payment was rejected

review of 2015 turbo tax

Pretty much covered everything to get a deduction from. Some things were more detailed than others. We have and breed show dogs and have a LOT of "Cost of Goods" deductions, but there was not a category to put the expenses in. So we had to lump them all together under Misc business expenses. I couldn't find where the Schedule E deductions were supposed to be placed, so we were unable to claim them.. Last year the Sch E was there!
What's great about it: Pretty much covered everything to get a deduction from
What's not so great: Didn't have a section to claim Schedule E deductions
