Great Software

I had trouble while entering the required information for the sale of a rental property. I missed the correct space to enter home sales price and cost of sale. After I knew what I was looking for, i had trouble getting to the correct form.
What's great about it: Very well guided questions
What's not so great: Needs better layout and access to sale of rental property
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Audit Defense sign up issue

The audit defense would not let me sign up using my Thailand address, I do not have a military APO/FPO. So I cancelled.
In addition I had an error on my return about entering dates, but here was no place to enter dates.
What's not so great: Did not let me sign up using a foreign address
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall I like the program, it;s a good value for the money, however, I really thought I submitted my return electronically and when I went to check it said never submitted. I don't know how it didn't submit, howver, the bank account info and my email and cell phone were there to get a text or email to notify me it was successful. After 2 days, i went to double check at the program since I never got an email or text.
Overall I've been using the program since 2005 and will continue to I like that it carries prior year information forward and gives you a comparison of the 2 years. However, I did have a computer die and I don't have the software for every year since 2005, missing a couple years (2012 and 2013) because my spouse downloaded software vs purchasing a cd. I won't do a download again for that specific reason.
What's great about it: confidently rely on the calculations ie. Taxable portion of Social Security, AMT, tax credits, etc
What's not so great: can't easily go back to 1 spot, need to go thru a series of screens to get back to where you want to be.

Even better

I stopped using TurboTax 6 years ago, in favor of a professional tax preparer. This year I decided to go back to TurboTax. I noticed that the software has become even more complete and intuitive than before. Almost every possible point of confusion is well anticipated by the interface. It answers your questions before you even think of asking them. It made me feel secure that I was doing things right. Very nice. In a few places I felt like it made me revisit more screens than necessary to go back and change one thing, but that may be as it should be. And mostly that was in one of the state versions. A well-designed, mature, complete solution. Well done!
What's great about it: Anticipates questions really well
What's not so great: Revisiting something could be more efficient

Easy!

I wasn't aware of a few credits and also is very easy to cross check with the IRS on deductions. As a small business owner and having a child with medical needs, I need to know I am deducting things I am allowed to.
What's great about it: Picked up on credits I was not aware of.
What's not so great: Had trouble signing on to transfer 2014

Been using Turbo Tax for over a decade! Handled all forms with ease for a complicated move, closed business and disability..
What's great about it: Asked all the right questions. Easy Guides you through the complecated process

Not as easy or understandable as in previous years

I have used TurboTax for many years now. I have previously found your product to be easy to use and transparent. This year, I found the Home and Business version quite cumbersome, particularly with regard to my LLC and filing my California return. I started a business at the end of 2015. According to California's tax law, I did not have to file a form 568 or pay the minimum $800 LLC tax since the business was in operation for less than 14 days in 2015. Nevertheless, TurboTax generated a form 568 for 2015 and suggested that I file it along with the $800. I spoke with a tax professional, who told me not to file the form or pay the $800, but neither of us could figure out why TurboTax did not take the date on which I started my business into account. I must have answered a question incorrectly somewhere in the program, but I have no idea where. Like I said, the current version just seemed less transparent than in previous years.
What's not so great: Home and Business version was very cumbersome, non-transparent, and generated a form that should not have been filed
