The only way to do Taxes

TurboTax is great if you use it every year. Just keep updating your tax info. from last year, and add your new data, answer the questions, and you are done.
What's great about it: It is great software for getting the job done.
What's not so great: A lot of questions, but needed for accuracy.

All in all, it is a most helpful program and one which i have used for almost 10 years now, allowing me to save considerable $ because I do not need to employ a professional.
It also takes rather complex situations and breaks it down for most to understand.

What's great about it: The menu they provide generally hits all the subjects one might be interested in.
What's not so great: There seems to be a recurring problem with previous year info being brought forward into the current year tax situation.

Awesome software!

This is the 5th year we've used Turbotax and as always, a
comprehensive and easy to use program. We have 1099s, schedule C as well as regular W2s. This software covers it all
and unifies the report. Then reviews it all for input errors.

Disappointed, (slightly), after all these yeays

I have used Turbo Tax since there was a Turbo Tax. You might say I am a true believer. I file three personal returns, all family, and two business. One of the business returns was 88 pages long so you can see doing them myself would be impossible without Turbo Tax, I used Home and Business AND Business this year,

Although I have a background in finance, I was years ago an AVP with what is now BofA, I am not an accountant, In "Business" FORM 1065 on the balance sheet, it was difficult for me to understand when it was “out of balance” . THE FORM WAS NOT DISPLAYED, ONLY ONE LINE. I had to print the form to get a look at what was going on and how to fix it, WITH NO HELP.
Had I started earlier, I actually started on all returns after buying the software Friday Apl 15th, this might not have been as much of a problem.

Again, about my start date and the number and complexity of my returns, this seems to be an overall positive review.
When paying for Audit Defense, My thoughts were "nothing should be this hard" That's all I will say there,
What I see as a real program lack: My 24 YO daughter worked last year and filed a return for a small refund so I took her off as a dependent. During final review, I was going thru dependents and qualifications listed "Daughter", "Lived with us 12 months", "we supported over 50%", "earned less than $4000." She met all those so I put her back as a dependent. All reviews went without a hitch.
This was on Monday night. I filed at about 8 Pm. At 11 p.m. I received a text stating both FED and State returns were accepted. I gave a sigh of relief and went to bed.
Next morning I was scheduled to be back at my day job, but NOOOOO. I received a text. Both FED and State returns were rejected. It seems that what the program fails to ask is if the dependent filed their own return and claimed an exemption for themselves.
Two and 1/2 hours and half a day's work missed later I was able to figure how to get through to some one who helped explain this and answer the question of penalty for late filing. Problem solved.

What's great about it: In the ent it worked. Saved a lot of calculations and research
What's not so great: Hard to find help WHEN YOU NEED IT. Paying for things while filing is a nightmare

Excellent but can still be improved

All around I love it; however, for my 2014 taxes I had to go to the IRS website and other tax assistors to determine what the "Required Minimum Distribution" (RMD) would have been on an inherited annuity from my deceased father. I had the numbers I needed, but that calculator was not programmed into TurboTax and I had to go elsewhere to work out the correct number.
What's great about it: Takes you through everything so you feel you are getting your max refund
What's not so great: Still missing some worksheet calculators that require you go elsewhere

Fee for e-filing state return

We plan to mail my state return by USPS. The program seemed to indicate that if we used the free Federal e-file option then we would have to pay to e-file my state return.
