What's great about it: quick

TurboTax has lost me

I'm a long-time TurboTax user, but do not plan on using it next year. We had a few complexities in our taxes this year such as moving and a sole law practice. I had problems with allocating income between states - it seems that TurboTax has less and less explanation and built-in aids each year. Still not sure I have the income correct for my new home state. And, when I needed to indicate that my stock gains were not while I was a resident of my new state, I had to open each entry individually. As some of my stocks had monthly dividend reinvestments, there were a lot of entries. I probably missed a few, which would mean I paid double taxes. In addition, I kept getting errors that showed up in the review that resulted from carryover data from past years. I was not able to fully get rid of it. I will be looking at other options next year.
What's great about it: I'm familiar with the program
What's not so great: Not up to the job of handling multiple part-year states. Hard to get rid of data entered in previous years.

Happy but with a suggestion

I love that we can upload our investment account info, but I wish TT would upload the investment account expenses at the same time it uploads the INT and DIV info. I did the extra step of learning if that info was loaded, learned it wasn't, followed up on that step and netted an $800 savings on our taxes.
What's great about it: easy to complete with good directions.
What's not so great: doesn't upload investment costs.

EVER SINCE I STARTED USING TURBO TAX, FILING MY TAXES IS A EASY TASK. NO NEED TO SET UP APPOINTMENTS WITH ANYBODY, AND I CAN CONVENIENTLY DO IT AT HOME, AND IF I NEED TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, I CAN ...NO NEED TO CALL AN RESCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH A TAX PERSON...AND IF YOU HAVE DOUBTS THE SOFTWARE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING OR YOU CAN CHAT WITH SOMEONE...

TurboTax took my refund from $350 to $3500

TurboTax discovered that I qualified for educational credits which took my refund from $350 to more than $3500. This refund will help me pay for my kids college tuition in the coming semester. You can be sure I'll be using TurboTax every year from now on. Thanks Intuit!!!
What's great about it: Discovered educational credits I would have missed
What's not so great: Can't think of any offhand.

I have used turbo tax for at least 8 years
but ive never got my taxes done professionally I just don't know if im getting all my deductions I have gotten a refund in each of the years I have used turbo tax
