Waste of Time

No. 1 complaint: Forces you to work through deductions etc THEN tells you that you don't' qualify wasting hours / days needlessly on health care, investments, energy credits, data entry, etc etc etc. Tell us the threshold / criteria up front!
What's great about it: Accurate, and trustworthy ( I think?)
What's not so great: Not enough help/ info; pushes eFiling needlessly, pushes "audit protection" -- costs extra
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

i like the step by step questions and also being able to go to the forms whenever I want.
Sometimes when I ask for help, it sends me out of the software and onto a website when what I really want is to get somewhere else in the program. For instance, I just want to print my returns or check to see if adding money to an IRA will be an overall benefit in the long run. Turbo tax had asked me questions when I was first doing my return, but I couldn't find that area again when I wanted to review my options about putting money in an IRA for 2015.

Very frustrated!

Have used this for several years. Never had a problem like this before. Was very worried that I would lose my information that I had put in and start over. Fortunately, that did not happen. I think there is an automatic save when there is an computer issue. All done and very relieved.
What's great about it: Was simple to follow the instructions.
What's not so great: Program kept freezing.

Found more savings for me and made it simple to do

I have been using Turbo tax since it came out. And when I retired and started my own business used it for that too. The carry over of information from one year to another is most useful. I wish there was some provision for copy and paste on the pages that you are providing my payment or other non tax information.
What's great about it: Program will walk you through and when you need to go back it is simple to pick your spot.
What's not so great: Couldnt get a snapshot of any of the pages withough going through the Print screen function
Pros: I bought or sold investments

in for the long haul

I have used Turbo Tax for the past 16 years without fail, paying full price each year for the product (hey, how about a reward for loyal customers once in awhile...you really have been sticking it to me for a long time) and I have seen continuous improvements over each year. But it seems to take you a long time to smooth out some things that would seem obvious if you talked to filers. Which is the reason I am writing. On the ''we will walk you through it'' journey, please work on the sequencing of questions in areas such as Section 179 expenses, retirement contributions and depreciation. Big picture: Consider doing a hybrid version, where you ask me questions for each section, but then you pop up the actual IRS form or page before we move on to show me where the questions have been used to fill in the forms. That would add a level of comfort and understanding to my journey without my having to toggle to another view.
What's great about it: Getting much better at retrieving data from banks, etc.
What's not so great: Couldn't import last year's return due to Windows/Mac crossover. Your instructions did not work

easy peezy

Only gripe i have is having to upgrade my operating system for mac. you have no idea the headaches involved as then i have to upgrade other software. PLEASE MAKE ANY NEW PRODUCT WORK WITH THE OLDER OPERATIONG SYSTEMS. Thank you

What's not so great: EVERY YEAR I HAVE TO UPDATE MY MAC OS. STOP THAT!!!!

GRRR! Taxes

I do taxes for my children and some forms for several personal businesses and Turbo Tax meets our needs. The program is user friendly for the most part but can be a bit tricky to navigate if you have unusual issues.
What's great about it: Familiar with the program and have used several years.
What's not so great: Getting familiar with yearly updates and differences with the program.
