One question in particular asked, "What is this form for?" If you answer anything other than the original job, it starts a new Form C.
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: can be misleading

I have been using Turbo Tax for the past several years. It gets easier & easier with the information on investments being automatically downloaded from my agent directly into the form(s). Never an issue ... never.
What's great about it: Easy to Follow & Understand
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Business vehicle disposal a bear
on April 18, 2016

I have been using turbo tax for 15 years. Importing last years info accelerates the process by hours. I run two businesses and have two rental properties. Most things are easy to understand until you get into assets and depreciation. going through the help topics usually will set you straight. The only thing I don't like in the program is if you use the same vehicle for multiple businesses and rentals you have to enter vehicle info again and again for each one. I also had a glitch on one schedual C with allowable depreciation on a disposed vehicle and had to override. Other than that one thing this program rocks and saves a business owner a lot of loot to prepare.
What's great about it: play with the numbers, very easy
What's not so great: same vehicles dont import between multiple business

TurboTax Issues
on April 18, 2016
Posted by: Larry90803
Big issues:
1. Form 1095 A kept disappearing and was not available on step-by-step. We had to enter it 5 times and then cross our fingers that it would stay in the return.
2. Passive activity carry forward loss was not auto populated for the state returns. It was OK on Federal but it took sharp eyes to notice that it was not included in the state returns (CA and NC).
3. CA depreciation tables were not updated for a property that was sold. Again, the Federal return was correct, but not CA so it was hard to spot.
What's great about it: Fairly convenient, considering how complex the tax code is
What's not so great: TurboTax errors/omissions that had a significant impact on taxes
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Both last year and this year I had confusing financial things to report on my taxes. When I called in, I got people who were willing and able to quickly understand my issues and help me get through my taxes. YIPPEE!!!
What's great about it: With a complicated return, software and support was GREAT.
What's not so great: Long phone wait time on tax day. But well worth the wait.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax is the boss!
on April 18, 2016

I love this program. It gets better every year. It reminds me of things I would never have thought of, and tells me what I can most likely ignore rather than reading a bunch of IRS-babble about the countless complexities.
If I were to ask for one thing, it would be to coddle retirees somewhat more. We have unique issues that we could use some help on, and it is easy for us to forget deductions and other things that might help us.
What's great about it: walked me thru the hard stuff
What's not so great: didn't remind me to include DENTIST expenses! easy to forget
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I couldn't tell from TurboTax or the online help how to enter the Mass 2K-1 changes from my federal K-1. Needs work.
What's great about it: Well-organized. Easy to use.
What's not so great: K-1s are a bear.
