Good program but easy to loose your place!

Not perfect but okay. Still complicated as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it's just me. I'm truly not smart enough, apparently, to do my own taxes, even with a computer program. Not completely idiot proof I guess.
What's great about it: Gets the job done.
What's not so great: Easy to get lost in the program and seems like you have to go through a section again to get back where you left off.

Problems with simple things

I found this version of Turbo Tax more streamlined than before. They cut out the comparison with year before when you review - which I don't like. Also, after printing return found they put the wrong name of person (spouse) in business expense - even though it was entered correctly through form - had to go back and tweak it manually and had trouble getting information as to how to do that - all the while being down the wire - under pressure to get my return in on time. Not as thrilled with it as I was in the past. I hope they fix these things. It's the taxpayer's time that is lost - a number of extra hours - trying to contact support - and searching online for answers to something that should be very simple.
What's great about it: Calculates and finds unusual credits
What's not so great: doesn't easily transfer information such as name and SSN numbers without extra tweaking
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Steady and dependable

Been using TurboTax since 1992 on 1991 taxes except for a few years in the early 2000's when I tried Tax Cut. Didn't like it as much as TurboTax, and depreciation forms didn't print properly with Tax Cut. One son is using TurboTax, too, and the other did until his business changed. Would NEVER again do the income tax forms without it.
What's great about it: Accurate, helpful, easy to use
What's not so great: requires updating of Mac computers
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good but not great

I was unable to e-file for NY State because I received 1099-MISC forms. I didn't find this out until the last minute. It would have been nice to have been told this as soon as I entered the info for the first form. Then, after I e-filed for federal, it would have been nice if I had been directed to the page to print my NY State forms to mail. Instead, I had to find them on my own. Other than that, the process was relatively smooth.
What's great about it: generally quick and easy
What's not so great: should have warned me about e-filing exceptions

Trying to get to specific rental summaries requires about 22 clicks for each property. Or, if there is another way, it sure isn't intuitive.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Navigating to specific renta pages/summaries is cumbersome

Excellent

Switched from H&R Block/TaxCut to TurboTax this year because of it's robust auto import capabilities from the financial institutions. Saved me days worth of work as I trade heavily.
What's great about it: Auto import from financial institurions
What's not so great: None
