Would have given five stars but lacks real help.

Would not have been able to hand calculate this return (and the myriad of alternatives) without Turbo Tax. The program has a few glitches however, such as not recognizing that separated couples may file differently concerning itemized deductions if one spouse is the head of household (allowed to take standard deduction in that case, while other spouse itemizes). Other than that, good program.
What's great about it: Able to calculate alternate scenarios
What's not so great: Was difficult to figure out how to do alternate scenarios

One advance product idea would to make the system do a split screen for what if questions or strategies to reduce taxes.
What's great about it: Turbo keeps up with the ever changing world of tax law. The interview based interview is a good way the do my taxes
What's not so great: Switching to different sections is difficult when you want to check out a different strategy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A Life Saver

I have relied on TurboTax for decades. AT first I was moving a lot in the military so it was essential. Now that my situation is stable, filing taxes is a breeze.
What's great about it: Easy and reliable
What's not so great: Some explanations are still too much IRS like

Great but...

TT has always been unparalleled software which gets better every year. BUT...your lack of transparency re:features included in price, esp. the state form, has defeated me every year. (One yr it was the upgrade 'promise') I'm resigned to losing that battle but it keeps me wary of reverse mortgage let me tell you. But TT itself..unbeatable.
What's great about it: Always improved software
What's not so great: Lack of price transparency

If you want the best tax software out there, there is no other choice but TurboTax

Go It Done

Well its tax day and I'm done. I've used TT for years but in the last few while having my own business I've engaged an accountant from time to time though I've found that it takes almost as long to pass records to them as to just do it yourself and has the downside that lost in communication items can result in as many errors as using TT and not being a CPA.
The tax code is insanely complex for small business and stock holders but TT largely got me through it unscathed. That's the upside...couldn't do it without this program (or similar).
Downsides:
1) Import from QB didn't work and crashed TT. Found it needs to be closed and account logged off first before attempting to import - ridiculous bug and long standing issue in QB
2) After import, you again have to log off to reopen QB (TT doesn't release the file). Do they not test this stuff at all.
3) State taxes have long been an after thought for Intuit. I sometimes wish they'd just populate the forms and tell you to go through the rest of the process by hand. Oregon's instruction booklet is MUCH easier to follow than the TT process.

2015 TTAX

Please don't make any changes but to the IRS forms.... Works well as is.....
What's great about it: Stays consistant from year to year, easy step by step
What's not so great: Slight issue with going between step by step and forms, OK after some time working on my tax return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great way to do your taxes!!!

I have been using Turbo Tax for several years. It has been an easy way to have my taxes done in a timely manner. Since I own a small business there are many extra forms and the Turbo Tax platform takes me through everything step by step. I will continue using it in the future.
What's great about it: Great leading questions. Easy to use platform.
