Best TurboTax Ever

Shortsighted program design

My daughter worked in 2013, but did not work in 2014 because of attending Spring, Summer and Fall classes. The TurboTax program REFUSED to pick up her 2013 data and kept demanding her 2014 tax file. IT DOESN'T EXIST because she had $0 income in 2014.
I was forced to re-enter everything. What a waste of time!

Could be better

On Schedule E TurboTax forces me to do manually divide shared expenses. You should be able to enter some figures that are shared and some that are Apt. only. Also, Maintenance does not allow you to enter line items and do the arithmetic. The worksheet has monthly numbers which makes no sense.
What's great about it: Most situations are straightforward and easy. Also, like that info from prior year transfers to current year.
What's not so great: Schedule E needs work. I rent out an apartment in my home. Some expenses are shared 50/50. Others are apt only

Another Great TurboTax Experience

Income Taxes for 2015 were another great experience. This is the fourth year that I've used TT. Easy step-by-step instructions led me through the process in record time. I especially like the review and "likelihood of audit" functions.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Up to date
What's not so great: Went smoothly. No cons

Use both Business & Home and Business Corp.
I also use Quickbooks Online and Intuit Payroll. Need software for personal tax returns I have six kids which gets me to 7 personal returns. Will look into other software that will do this.

Several versions ago the entry on the tax return was more visible than the current version. I have to go to forms multiple times to confirm that the step by step entries produce the correct tax return information.
What's great about it: Step by Step clear
What's not so great: No visibility to how entries appear in the tax return

I have been using TurboTax software for the past 4 years for my business and personal tax preparation and the only regret that I had was that I didn't start using it sooner. I have paid hundreds of dollars for professionals to do what this software did for me for a fraction of the cost and at my convenience and availability. I recommend this software to my family and friends all the time.
What's great about it: Step by Step with attention to every possible detail

My major complaint is the inability to sort charitable organizations alphabetically. This leads to duplicate entries.
What's great about it: Walks through all categories
What's not so great: Contributions & inadequate explanations on some forms when errors are identified
