Coverage of RSU and SAR and options sales are not clear. If you received funds from option sales through payroll, it is not clear how to process such situations without double counting
What's great about it: has prior years data
What's not so great: questions between State and Federal returns were not clear.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Loved the ease of Turbo Tax

I loved every step of the way. It saved me time from meeting with someone to go over my deductions and business information. I loved the ease of E Filing. It took the stress of filing my taxes to an all time low. Will never use another product!
What's great about it: I got to see each and every entry every step of the way. The hints and guidelines were easy to follow.
What's not so great: I could not transfer my Quickbooks records into the Turbo Tax.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I used the Home and Business version for 2015. A little more expensive than the old Deluxe version that I used previously. This years version ran the smoothest of any in the recent past. No errors or corrections needed on review this time around and efiled federal without a glitch. Yay. i have had problems in the last several years with efiling state so stuck with paper filing that one.

good for federal tax

After using a paid preparer for several years, I "did it myself" with TurboTax this year. I liked the simplicity of importing statements from investments. I learned a lot that I had not picked up from reviewing the work of our paid preparer. Overall, the program was simple to use. If you happen to be from Tennessee and have to pay Hall income tax, give yourself a break and skip TurboTax. It is easy to do by hand, and TurboTax is clueless (reversed which investment income was taxable and which was not).
What's great about it: Importing investment info made filling tax forms quick and simple
What's not so great: Turbotax had a hard time with Tennessee state tax, even though I separated out what was taxable and what was not.

Great product for self-employed

It took me 15 hours to finalize Schedule H because of the complexity of California state issues...and the lack of good Turbo Tax prompts. I searched every where to find the "California State Experience Rate"...a number Turbo Tax said I had to enter. Looked through all the Federal home health care documents from the IRS...no success. Looked through ~ 100 pages of California EDD documents no success. Finally just Googled my question...and Google displayed the answer instantly. Turbo Tax could easily have had a prompt that said to Google the data. It would have saved me a day and a half of tax agony...just finding the one number.
What's great about it: the auto fill of data from previous returns...a big deal if you have items you are depreciating every year.
What's not so great: Schedule H software

A little light on the guidance

my return has gotten more complicated and this year I was disappointed with the amount of help and guidance built into the program. It was non-existent for some forms and pages.
This was my worst experience with Turbo Tax yet. I may just have a professional do it next year and skip the frustration. It will force me to be more organized.
What's great about it: Makes it easy
What's not so great: Very little advice or help in areas
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
