WISH I HAD DONE THIS SOONER

Last year I struggled doing my taxes manually. I had to fill out several worksheets to calculate my obamacare subsidy, and after much frustration ended up filing it incorrectly. I am still trying to sort that out with good old Uncle Sam.
So this year I finally broke down and spent the money for Turbo tax. I am so glad I did. It made everything so much easier, and I do not expect to get any ugly notices fro the IRS.
I highly recommend this product, although I think it is sort of pricy.

Everything ok until filling

Previously i just pressed buttons to e-file today i had to wait on line with some of the most obnoxious 'on-hold' music to get a code to enter which allowed me to e-file.
What's great about it: As usual entry was ok
What's not so great: Waiting for Intuit Support to provide Filing Number -20 min wait

Worked fine for my slightly complex return

I used TT for years, then about 10 years ago started having someone do my taxes. After 2 years in a row of him making mistakes, charging me for every form, and then me spending almost as much time to review what he did as it would take me to do them myself, I went back to using Turbo Tax.
3 years in a row with no problems. And I can do my son's return for him.
The only problems I really had were:
- Errors show up when checking the return because certain things were missing, bu they were never asked for when I filled out the appropriate areas.
- a few times some of the data entered into a couple areas had to be reentered later
Both of these issues occurred in the forms for donating a vehicle, and 1 or 2 other areas.

What's great about it: covered all my forms needed and halded my more unique situations
What's not so great: A few fields had to be re-entered

State tax return guidance almost non-existent

I have been using TurboTax for years and mostly like it. This year however the program came up against a wall in a couple of areas, directing me to consult IRS publications and also directing me to contact the state tax authorities directly in order to determine how to treat certain income.
The state tax products have always been weak. This year it was especially lame. I buy tax software to AVOID needing to review IRS tax publications and to AVOID asking the government for tax advice -- especially when it is Sunday night before the filing deadline.
What's great about it: federal return guidance
What's not so great: no meaningful guidance for state tax returns

Sucked Last Year, Great Again This Year

Better than ever this year. Last yea rwas a total disaster, had to reluctantly use H&R Block after being with Turbotax forever. What the heck happened last year? No updates, no replies, absolute nightmare.
What's great about it: Easy to Use Like up to 2013
What's not so great: Still mad about last year's experience
