Like having an e-CPA

Makes filing taxes as painless as possible. Importing last years return takes care of all the mundane information. Takes care of all the intricacies by just entering the amounts from the various forms mailed to me. Simply a great tool!
What's great about it: Importing and comparing last years data; reminded me that I had to find a missing form.
What's not so great: At the start it should tell me what the amount of the standard deduction so I wouldn't waste time itemizing deductions

State Returns

For the home and business version, for which we pay extra there should be an option to e-file as many states as needed - perhaps for a bundled discount price. Some of us earn income in more than 5 states.
What's great about it: Relatively Easy to use
What's not so great: Can only File 5 states online

Left me wondering if it's done correctly

I had a car wreck in 2015 and totaled the car I use for business. Turbo Tax was not clear at all in how to account for this event. There were questions about it that didn't give me the opportunity to explain what had happened (I haven't replaced the car yet) and I didn't have the correct choice presented by the software, so, I'm going to have to go to an accountant and possibly send in a revised return, because of this short-coming.
What's great about it: Normal stuff worked fine
What's not so great: Had an unusual item and instructions on how to do it were bad

This product is so simple to use. Past versions have been a bit cumbersome to move around in since I rarely plow through the taxes in linear fashion. Now, with multiple options to move about and with discrete subject sections that can be filled to completion, it made assembling our taxes easier than ever. Thanks TurboTax!, Russ in Redmond
What's great about it: Simple to navigate and thorough analysis

Concerns
on April 16, 2016

Some of the Yes/No questions that I answered disappeared when I went back to another section.
There was no definition of "lots" in the sales of ESPP stocks - once a single reported lot (1099-B) was entered I could not break up into smaller lots to justify the calculation of a base cost for the whole set - it would have appeared to be double counting - the total plus 26 small lots. At that point I could not get around the need to key everything to the overall numbers alone. I found an alternative approach that simply asked for sales and basis numbers with no help from instructions.
I left out a decimal in my listing a long-term insurance premium. It was correct in the Federal forms, but went in at 100 times larger in the State form. Wouldn't let me back in to fix it, wasting more than an hour. Your help person carefully reviewed the form, took about 5 minutes, and asked me to hold down Shift and press Enter. That popped the missing page. She listened as I got in and fixed the error to make sure it worked. Great help! BUT, there were no instructions in the software that would have helped me without taking up her valuable time.
There were others - I am too tired to go back but some new terms were not clarified and going back i often could not go back over something i had just added because it was buried to a lower level. Just like my miss-typed Long-Term premium above.
These are serious disruptions, taking hours over the past week. I hope you can fix them, because this can undo a lot of confidence.
What's great about it: It got me through, FINALLY.
What's not so great: Confusion, lack of clarity

Unclear process for home-based business deductions
on April 16, 2016

I've used Turbo Tax for years and while it's still my go-to tax product, it seems to me that TurboTax needs to work on the process for home-based businesses. Very confusing and not-intuitive when it comes to home office deductions if you have more than one home based business.
What's great about it: Pulls info from previous year's returns if used Turbo Tax
What's not so great: Confusing process for multiple home offices
