Does a great job

Makes doing your taxes easy. I've used Turbotax for many years. The one year i tried its main rival, that product had an error that almost cost me $2,000. I caught it myself, but I had to buy Turbotax and file an an amended return to get back the money I would have otherwise lost. I contacted the other product's company but never got a response. Stick with Turbotax. They are dependable.
What's great about it: Very helpful, easy to use, dependable.
What's not so great: Cost for additional states is high. i wish you had a version that handled trusts.

Peace of mind

TurboTax makes filing taxes fun, believe it or not. When done, we were confident we hadall the deductions possible. Transfer of data from the Federal return to State was seamless and the questions asked during data entry were to the point, and gave us confidence that all eventualities had been covered for our return. Finally, filing options were broad and it was very convenient to be able to file both returns together.
What's great about it: Review of Federal return was very helpful. Transfer of Federal data to State form was transformative!
What's not so great: Initially found it difficult to find where to enter some minor expenses
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Since MacIntax - 1985?

Had to switch from 'Easy Step' questions to 'forms' when it didn't take me where I knew I needed to go.
What's great about it: Transfers carry forward amounts and year-to-year data
What's not so great: Now have to purchase "Home and Business" to get Sch. C, etc.

I can save hundreds on tax prep for my small business by doing it all myself. I know very little about accounting but as long as you save receipts and record them in a ledger your good to go.
What's great about it: Its a snap
What's not so great: Nothing was bad

TT is very useful. But, some of the final fixes keep you from filing w/o proper explanation and guidance. Need to work on that!

What's not so great: Did not import my 2014 data!
