Taxes 2015

I have used Turbo Tax for years. It's always be good to me. It's simple and flows thru every topic. I have worked at H & R and this is just as easy. And if you have a question the help button is right there.
What's great about it: The software talks you thru everything, step by step
What's not so great: It did not always ask for details

K-1 Troubles
on April 15, 2016

2014 Tax Year was bad for TurboTax. It forced me to update my sosftware mid-federal return prep and lthen et me file with K-1 law partnership income and nondeductible unreimbursed business expenses because my income was" passive." I didn't catch the loss of $14,000 in deductions for 2014 until working on my 2015 similar return. TurboTax didn't blink an eye and let me proceed without a single redlight or warning in 2014 and I don't even know how the input got to be wrong. I had done it correctly for many previous years on TT. I thought this was a real weakness in the program. I feel it is very weak on K-1s for law partnership self-employment income, in general.
What's great about it: Ease of Data Entry
What's not so great: Confusion reigns when entering business expenses with K-1s

I have used various versions ofTurboTax for at least 10 years, and the program has become increasingly user friendly, thorough, and IRS accepted and trusted.
What's great about it: Detailed and thorough
What's not so great: lengthy process
Pros: I bought or sold investments

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: Gets through the bulk of the stuff fairly painlessly.
What's not so great: Could use more detailed clarification on mortgage interest.

A Great Program with room to grow
on April 15, 2016

It's a great program that could be so much better. I'd like to sit down with all my w-2s, 1099s, and business spreadsheets, and just enter the data as I come to it. It already has my profile, has known it for years. It knows where I have claimed my Medicare B deductions. I don't want to be told not to enter the Med B payments with the SSA1099. It knows there are at least 3 different places it might go. Pick the best one and show me where it is. Then let me decide if I want to change it. I have on occasion entered it twice or not at all. It is nice to know that last year I had $1234 for some deduction category, but why can't I see how that broke out. This year I had to run last year's program to see it. Sometimes the breakout is imported from last year, sometimes not. When I bore down to enter the nitti-gritti for deduction catagories near the end of the list, why should it dump me back to the top of the long list of catagories. I'm constantly searching for where I was. Sometimes you have to see several pages to get all the data for a situation, each page giving only one datum.
What's great about it: Carries over from last year; work with forms or step-by-step
What's not so great: Step-by-Step is not free form; seeing the details is limited
