Great software for taxes

I've been using TurboTax for Mac since it was Macintax (25 years?). Each year it improves and seems to be easier to use.
What's great about it: The step-by-step method makes sure you don't overlook anything. It enters information from the previous year.
What's not so great: Doesn't have IRS info for the most confusing parts. Doesn't enter IRA bases from previous year.

Very complete

Could be more intuitive in finding different tax sections
An improvement would be to make it easy to compare different tax scenarios--married filing joint VS married filing single--could be very helpful if this could be done with a touch of a button rather than having to enter everything twice and run a second set of returns

Excellent product

This program saves me the time and money it takes to go to the acountant and pay lots of money. I can get it done in a day and get a better refund as I tested it last year.

Too Good

TT is too automatic this year. Previous editions were more like what a professional would use which allows you to see what is happening on the form and to make corrections in your assumptions. For example, I lost a lot of time this year trying to get back to input boxes when I discovered mistakes and there was no way to find them. I ended up going to the Forms and simply overriding. I am not confident that TT processed the overrides so I am worried that there are errors in my filing. I know taxes and accounting and I would prefer a more stick-shift software with real explanations from the IRC.
What's great about it: TT is painless and less expensive than a professional
What's not so great: A little too slick

Performance of 2015 Turbotax Software

Unable to handle installment sale of income property and preparing cost basis for property and improvements on the property. Car Donation software has not kept up with changes in law. Was able to get the car donation credit only after pretending that the donee carried out sale of the charitable donation. I am not sure whey AMT tax calculation did not change my tax without the increase due to AMT.
What's great about it: Takes burden off since we do not have to prepare handwritten tax returns or send printed returns
What's not so great: 1) 2015 Turbo Tax kept crashing 2) Flawed software for preparing return pertaining to income property sale & car donatio
