Smooth and efficient return!

I like using the software. It is very easy to use. I hope that it will include more sync mechanism in to it so that I will not have enter data as much. I do like that it remembers what I did last year.
What's great about it: Easy to use and very helpful!
What's not so great: I wish I could have learn how to sync my wife business account with it.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2015 turbo tax

This years program froze every 5 minutes, requiring me to restart turbo tax each time. Also had to re-enter info multiple times because data was not autosaved before program froze. Hopefully next years version will have this bug fixed
What's great about it: quick
What's not so great: Froze up every 5 mins

1099 B

In tax year 2015, due to a merger, I sold some stock and received new stock. The stock sold was accumulated over several years and the 1099b information from my brokerage covered pages of information. The brokerage firm claims they report to me according to the IRS requirements but their report in no way resembles an IRS 1099B.
It took me four hours of searching through forms to figure out how to report this income.
I am still not convinced that all the information entered on "worksheets" was actually transferred to the return. I believe your software needs some work in this area.
What's great about it: You ask if the taxpayer has one of these.
What's not so great: After saying yes to the "pro" your method of gathering information does NOT match the 1099B information provided.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

What's not to love? Pulling in the previous year's return is very helpful. Connecting to our brokerage is priceless because I'd never be able to figure out what to enter where. Notification of return acceptance lets me relax, knowing the return has been received and our obligations met.
What's great about it: TurboTax makes it possible for me to do our taxes myself.

Pound of flesh - but no deduction for weight loss

I like being personally and closely involved and to spread my thinking and documenting deductions over time, rather than to pay a professional who may not happen to ask the right questions in a brief meeting. Seeing the effect of deductibles on taxation interactively a la TurboTax increases my understanding of the complexities and stimulates strategic thinking for the next tax year.
What's great about it: Thorough, educational
What's not so great: Paying to e-file state return
