Complicated Tax Situations Made Simple

I work a typical 9-5, and my wife works as a freelancer from home. We have several unique tax situations that would have cost us more money had we gone through an accountant instead of filing the return ourselves. This is the second year we have used TurboTax, and it has saved us tremendous amounts of money and confusion. We will definitely be back next year.
What's great about it: Includes EVERY unique situation that could possibly apply to us
What's not so great: Website version is incredibly slow; buy the disk as soon as possible.

Frustrating computer issues

Mostly Turbo Tax does it's job well. However, I got no clear notifications either when I uploaded the program to my computer, nor when problems began to happen, that my operating system was "not supported" (i.e. would not work well with) the current version of Turbo Tax. This caused MANY wasted hours as I tried to figure out why it wouldn't accept the Health Insurance info I was giving it, including multiple long calls with tech support, who were nice and helpful, but did not until hours into troubleshooting (multiple calls) think to look up if it could be an operating system problem. Very frustrating. Also, I can't figure out why TT keeps recalculating the tax/refund amount every time I hit any button to advance to the next page, even when I provided no new information; it slowed everything down in a big way, even after I upgraded my OS.
What's great about it: Mostly, Turbo Tax did it's job, and I got my taxes files.
What's not so great: No clear notifications that my operating system was not supported, support staff didn't track it down for many hours.

What's great about it: Easy to understand steps
What's not so great: Steps in software tended to jump pagessteps

Don't like having to buy a upgraded version

Resent having to buy Home & Business used to get by with just the Deluxe version. Wife is a cosmetologist, with minimal business. Self employed with no employees, shouldn't be stuck with the extra $30
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: used to get by with the deluxe edition

Tax Prep for Dummies

I have used TurboTax for over 10 years after I paid a tax preparer to do my taxes and HE used TurboTax. It is intuitive and extremely easy to use and walks through everything I need to consider. I actually use my first run-through just to make sure I have all the documentation I need.
What's great about it: Guides me through everything, doublechecks everything.
What's not so great: Hard to undo specific forms
