Disappointed Turbo Tax user

I have been a big supporter of Turbo Tax in the past and this year, the program was awful. I found it very difficult to go to the spot I wanted to, I had to keep reviewing the same questions over and over again. I wanted a forms preview and that was not available. I am a tax preparer and this program was the absolute worst that I have ever seen. I will be checking other programs next year, before I purchase anything for my personal tax return.
Very disappointed in Intuit and Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: brought in last years return
What's not so great: not able to preview forms as needed through the process

my taxes are complicated, but still seem simple

I've been using TT for several years, with good results. Still seems to do the trick despite having (for a while) a home business office, capital gains, etc. The benefit of not having to do this by hand and sort it out on my own is very valuable to me.
What's great about it: User friendly. Easy to do in small sessions.
What's not so great: Wonder what tax tips a CPA would give me.

Eased the Jitters
on April 13, 2016

I am grateful that TurboTax has made such a simple to use and re-assuring product. I am a constant procrastinator and self-employed so I have a lot of resistance to biting the bullet and getting my taxes done. The simplified but comprehensive, take you by the hand format in TurboTax for Home and Small Business helped me keep going once I finally got going. It was also helpful and encouraging to see the running total of my tax liability and then refund amount as the neccessary information was collected on income, liabilities, deductions and credits. Not only did I owe less than I feared (this year) I actually got a sizeable refund due to unclaimed ACA (Obamacare) tax credits. I am grateful to have had that help to stay insured this year but the delivery of the service is quite a cluster. TurboTax and the Marketplace provided tax forms made sorting out the final tax implications the simplest part of interfacing with the ACA requirements and benefits.
My one main criticism is significant though; Short of sifting through the forms themselves I couldn't find summaries of the entries that would clarify whether my total calculated tax liability included my Social Security and Medicare tax liabilities generated from self employment income. The lack of a good summation of the data entered could be frustrating for other questions as well. If that option is present then it isn't easy enough to find.
All in all I am very satisfied and will use this product again and again.
Happy tax day!
What's great about it: Intuitive (no pun intended) and comprehensive, user friendly
What's not so great: Difficult to review Summary of entries
Pros: I moved

Taxes for 2015
on April 13, 2016

Good program for taxes but the 2014 version was more user friendly than the one for 2015. Specific example: All the info from several forms 1099-DIV was either entered by hand for some (less known) financial institutions or else read directly by the program for the more popular ones. No complaints here thus far; No one is perfect, but by the time I finished the input for the Federal taxes all the relevant 1099-DIV data should have been "remembered" by the program and available and ready for use by the State program (in my case MS). However, for some unknown reason, I had to manually re-enter for the state return every single one of the 8 or 10 associated individual Payers' numbers and dividend amounts. - I never had that problem in previous years.
What's great about it: Better than doing your taxes by hand (I used to do it that way a long time ago)
What's not so great: But not as user friendly as in previous years.

Good Product/service, Timely well within my Value threshold.
What's great about it: Helped walk me through the return preparation process
What's not so great: Needed additional explanation on some topics, description was insufficent
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Great product. Only way I have filed, except one year (I paid someone else and regretted it- ended up having to amend that return!)
What's great about it: Easy, quick, you are in control
What's not so great: it is still filing taxes!
