Good for fed, not for state (CO)

About our tenth year of using TurboTax with some potential audit flags (sole proprietorship, home business). Good guidance on completing taxes, and have not been audited, so good. Lack of detail for some aspects of Colorado taxes, particularly income exemption for inherited pensions and IRAs -- hardly any guidance in TurboTax, need to go to Colorado Dept of Revenue web site.
What's great about it: Lots of detailed aid for Sched C, home business
What's not so great: Missing needed details for Colorado inherited pensions, IRAs

Once again Turbo Tax did it

I've used Turbo Tax for many years now. But the state filing is still a mystery when the box says one free state. And I have ended up paying every year I have filed electronically. Hence, I started mailing my State returns. This should be made clearer as to what this means on the packaging. Otherwise it is a great program. Just not happy with the State limiting stuff.
What's great about it: The walk through
What's not so great: State filing

Makes it easier

Turbo Tax, like all previous years, has been an excellent application. Its power to import previous years tax information, makes filling the current years information easy.
There is some need for improvement. I found that some of the explanations on the topics being populated, need to be clarified. An example was the "California Credits section". It falls short on details. The help Center did not help except to show that several filers have similar questions and did not find the help useful. I ended up having to view the actual forms to help myself.
Another problem, was form 1095-A. Last year I had to send the IRS a copy of my form by mail. There is no method provided to import the copy of 1095-A, sent by the state. Upon review of the information which was entered automatically on form 1095-A by "Step by Step" process, and comparing with the form I received from the state, I found that the "Step by Step process, left out some of the information.
I have used turbo tax for a long time and it has definitely been a positive experience. In general, I think the development teams are doing a great job but there seems to be a trade-off going on between release and accuracy. I hope to use this tool for a long time, feeling confident that the attention to detail, explanations and descriptions remain at the level of excellence which I am use to seeing in Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Easy import of previous year and fills in information as needed.
What's not so great: Some of the explanations need elaboration.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
