Turbotax 2015 - excellent experience as always!

There is no better experience for self-prepared taxes than Turbotax. The software continually checks for updates to the tax laws. Transferring info from previous years saves lots of hassle and time. Preparing state taxes in Turbotax makes it so much easier. My only extra feature would be free state e-file.
What's great about it: Step by step walk through - great for business deductions
What's not so great: State e-file is not included as a free feature.

Easy as Pie!

I am an accountant and I learned how to do taxes the long way then using Turbo Tax. If my learning institution trusted it way back then, then it was easy to put my trust in it on my own tax preparation. I recommend Turbo Tax to all my friends and family, especially the online free version that allows them to save a copy for next years tax preparation. This program just keeps improving and the updates are quicker to download and install. Very trustworthy, efficient and accurate!
What's great about it: Quick, concise, easy to answer questionaire with help windows to explain addtiional information!
What's not so great: None with this program, the tax system just gets more complicated as it grows!

Walks you through everything

I've been using TurboTax for years and generally like it. Sometimes the state doesn't download properly, but a Cust Svc agent can take care of it once you figure out how to contact them. MN required a potential modification of Fed AGI, so the instructions recommended saving the file under a different name. The work through was pretty clear, but then it wasn't clear which file version would be submitted or whether to reenter info on the original file.
What's great about it: Takes you to what's needed, allows you to jump around, shows prior year's entries for comparison, easy to use calculator
What's not so great: Thorough walkthrough on MN state oddities, but unclear on where to finally enter info and submit

getting better every year,however
1. some data sources go in circles and don't really pinpoint the source.
2. the calculator needs to be available without having to close detail windows first.

Great directions for walking through taxes!

We have a small home business, and pay self-employment tax on business and non-clergy religious employment as well as standard state employment. Turbo tax does the calculations for these unique issues and answers questions, or directs you to appropriate resources. What can be an overwhelming task is made easy by their step by step method. Thank you!

I have been using trubotax for many years and always have an easy time. I have a home based business and it makes it SO easy to get taxes done.
What's great about it: ease of doing taxes
