My husband has always done our taxes until he passed away last year. He always used Turbotax, and I have continued to do so since he died. I've found the software complete and easy to use. Turbortax support staff have also been very helpful.
What's great about it: Complete, Easy to follow
What's not so great: Nothing

TurboTax Guiding Verbage

I have used TurboTax for a decade. Overall, I am a very big fan, but I think as my taxes have become slightly more complicated, (Investments, rental property and now home based business) the ease of use of TurboTax is diminished. I am not sure that TurboTax has taken a comprehensive review over the years to upgrade its language as it is guiding you. I think in many instances it could add a little more context. This is very important in the "review" portion. Moreover, when fixing some errors on my return.....if you make an error in fixing the error it is very difficult to find your mistake. The software won't guide you back to that portion of your return with ease.
What's great about it: Making my life easier
What's not so great: Wording is sometimes confusing as it guides you

This is my sixth year using TurboTax. As usual, it saved me time and saved me the cost of an accountant. Plus it saved me tax dollars by covering even obscure tax issues.
Can't beat TurboTax.
What's great about it: Quick and Easy
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I've been buying extra state returns for at lest 10 years. and have been at my current address for that last 4. When I went to buy a state return TT had remembered my previous address for my credit card, which denied the charge. I've used the same truck in my business for the past 4 years and TT want to know when I put the truck in service, every year. This year TT forgets my bank deposit info for my state direct deposit. EVERY year I have to check the passive return block on my rental properties.
What's great about it: remembers most of previous years data
What's not so great: forgets previous year data

I have been using Turbotax for many years and it just gets better every year. I like the fact that it goes through an interview process to make sure that nothing is missed. I always feel confident in the results. Highly recommend.
What's great about it: Easy to use for painless tax preparation
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

What's great about it: documented, efile IRS
What's not so great: One State free efile should be included. Would like option to insert data directly on forms vice answering questions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Some of my info did not transfer. I was left to wonder if I filled out the same form twice.
What's great about it: Fairly easy
What's not so great: Some screens came up twice without info being saved

I've been using Turbo Tax for more than 15 years. For new users, I would suggest creating a checklist after using it for the first time so that future years will go much quicker. It's best to create the list while it's fresh in your mind. When ready to complete your taxes next year, you simply collect the data on your checklist and go. Also, for businesses, set an annual calendar reminder on 12/31 each year to record your ending mileage, especially if you are not currently using an app or daily log.
What's great about it: Quick and easy!
What's not so great: When there is an error, it would be nice to be able to jump directly to the data entry screen rather than the form
