What's great about it: step by step instructions for most parts
What's not so great: not great to use when part year resident and more complicated issues
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

The work-around in the Help section solved the problem, but I shouldn't have had to go there in the first place.
What's not so great: Direct Deposit data not automatically transferred
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2015 TurboTax

For tax help, I resort to the IRS website, CFR, and the Tax Code. For program help with TurboTax, better aid that describes what entries are about and how to deal with them would really help.
What's great about it: Well organized, thorough, easy check on the forms
What's not so great: Wretched help function

So Easy!
on April 10, 2016

So much easier than trying to figure all the instructions one by one. Always go through the guide me section even if not needed than I know I've not missed anything! Have lost track of how many years we've used TurboTax.
What's great about it: Easy to read and fill out; questions answered easily
What's not so great: Doesn't come back to same page you saved at; but is in the same section.

Good, but not the same as a CPA

Montana Form QEC may not apply to millions of people, since we are a low population state, but it would be nice to include it anyway.
The exception for IRA penalty tax on early distribution for new homebuyers is VERY well hidden and not likely to be found/claimed without doing research outside the program and entering manually on the form. Even after many years of using TurboTax, I struggled to find it.
What's great about it: Generally straightforward and easy to use
What's not so great: Needed to go outside software twice this year
Pros: I bought or sold investments
