What's not so great: It would be helpful if Turbo Tax is a little more helpful in determining estimated taxes for the following year.

IMCan't read my final federal return, it's jumbled

I had cancer for all of 2015 and last quarter of 2014 and first quarter 0f 2016. Therefor i didn't work any but still had expenses. I have survived both health wise and financially. I worked a very long time on my taxes as I couldn't afford a professional tax prepared. I will use one next year since my 2015 terurn in no even close to legible.
What's great about it: above , but rather difficult
What's not so great: wow what a task. I think I'll go back to paying the money so I can read what i did.

TurboTax 2015 Getting Lazy

In past years, TurboTax asked questions on every page and made it clear what I needed to do, but some of the pages in this year's software seemed to have info on it, but left it up to me to figure out what needed to be done. Also, the "roadmap" of the sections that had been completed did not guide me through all sections - if I had not been checking off expenses as I went, I would have completely left off several home office expenses.
Finally, during error check, the specific box/blank that needed to be addressed was not clearly identified (this has been a problem in the past as well).

Horrible program

I have used TurboTax for 3 decades but will no longer do so. It hides too many things I wanted and did a few really stupid things in my return. I will never again use the product. I'd rather pay someone much more money to file my return than put up with this experience. You require Windows or Apple OS ... I have used Ubuntu for 5 years and it is far better than Windows. I refuse to be forced to support an OS just to do my taxes.
What's great about it: I was finally able to finish my return.
What's not so great: Horrible user interface. Very difficult to use. Slow.

It works but can run you in circles

The process has you key in 'some' of the info on the variety of tax related forms you get each year. But not all of it, and this results in you running in circles on some topics, such as Foreign Tax Credit, where TT suggests you check the 1099-DIV info on income, but in that section it never asks for the foreign tax info. Combined with some questions that read like double negatives, you may end up re-doing a section several times because the questions are misleading and confusing. I paid $x in foreign taxes on foreign dividends, why is this so difficult for Turbo Tax to capture and process?
What's great about it: Automated questions guide you thorugh forms
What's not so great: For some topics its a confusing mess

Been using "TurboTax" for a bazillion years and never had the
slightest issue. Couldn't get by without it. Although I do not ever get refunds, I'd probably be paying considerably more taxes if it weren't for TurboTax helping to ensure the best possible deductions and tax scenarios'

Extremely user-friendly process that walks you through every step. Does not require an accounting degree to effectively and accurately complete your taxes.
