Great Job!

I recommend TurboTax highly if you are not a professional tax accountant! I could not have done this on my own!
What's great about it: It was more thorough that I could have ever been!
What's not so great: Some sections could be worded more clearly (IMHO!)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

My return has gotten more complex, but I'm never worried about getting it right with TurboTax. My latest wrinkle is the formation of an LLC, but TurboTax gave me everything I needed to make filing business income and expenses a breeze!
What's great about it: Comprehensive
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Experience TurboTax

During my business career I have always maintained a CPA to do my taxes. I spent significant dollars in order to have that luxury. I no longer have to spend all that money. In my opinion, for my needs (and probably for most of my peers) we no longer need to maintain the services of a CPA. TurboTax is as complete and competent tax advisor as I have ever had. Just assemble the necessary data as it pertains to your economic condition, answer the questions that TurboTax asks and your tax return is done. I am a real believer and enjoy the simplicity and completeness of this product.
What's great about it: Simplicity & Completeness
What's not so great: I don't see any

First timer--TurboTax is awesome
on April 10, 2016

I was pessimistic about TurboTax, because I had six sources of income last year--it was complicated. TurboTax had no problem whatsoever with my situation. There was extra info available in the TurboTax forum that described my exact situation and what to do about it, namely a second job out of town (away from my tax home). Excellent.
What's great about it: clear, lots of explanations
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

That was easy

Very simple, easy to use. Used Home & Business for personal and Business version for my businesses. I always see a lot of customer whining every year about how Turbo Tax did not install on such and such a computer or how it is so horrible this year compared to previous years..., how you have to buy Business edition to do business taxes... bla bla bla.
Program is very easy to use and makes taxes very easy, which quite a feat when looking at how the tax system/forms are setup in this country. I did 3 taxes this year: my 2 LLC acting as S Corps and 1 for my personal taxes.
Only thing I don't like is the charge to add a State. I only noticed 1 bug when doing my taxes - when saving State Taxes, the auto-file name says '1040' instead of the state form.
Turbo Tax is much cheaper than an accountant and lets you take control of your taxes/finances each year. I like that.
I've also used H&R Block tax software in the past 1 or 2 times for my businesses - that software is complete rubbish - all the software was - was electronic versions of the tax forms and you had to enter all the tax information electronically into the electronic forms. Very painful and no little difference from doing taxes on paper.
What's great about it: very easy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Sale of Partnership shares
on April 10, 2016
Posted by: DebyFloyd6590
I was concerned the adjustment for ordinary income recognition on the sale wouldn't come through, but it appeared tow work.
In an effort to delete what I had done under brokerage statement, I doubled up on the sale proceeds, had to delete everything related to sale of limited partnership shares.
What's great about it: I got there with no errors.
What's not so great: I reported in sale of stock - in 2013 it was with the K-1 information
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Pretty good, could be better on Mac

I have been using TurboTax for decades and it has served me well. Since I have switched to the Mac, it seems a bit harder to use.
It needs ways to get easy explanations for any field you want.
There should be a way to find out how any computed number was arrived at. In some cases, you can get this, but not all.
The error section has inadequate text to tell you what the field in error is in some cases, and really should also tell you a bunch about the field rather than Mumblety-Form line 12b or whatever.
What's great about it: It did the job and was fairlly easy to use
What's not so great: Some ease of use features need to be added
