Filing Made Easy

Cost effective way to file taxes that is comprehensive and easy to use. I like the way you can update your historical tax filing to provide a good comparison of last year to current year.
What's great about it: Easy to go through all areas of Income and Deductions to ensure a maximum refund
What's not so great: Can you develop a Turbo Tax for Business Only?

Had to reenter data, same car different job
Had to reenter bank data on state return, should have box "use same account"
Home mortgage amount did not transfer to home office calculation.

What's not so great: Did not transfer some data, had to reenter

Always a good experience

I have saved Turbo Tax returns from the '90s. I have loved Turbo Tax because I can do my husband's business and our personal taxes at the same time. While the kids were in college, I could do theirs and ours and keep track of who was a dependent. Some years, one or the other would make enough to be on their own. Now, both are grown, but everything can be imported for them to file on their own.
What's great about it: imports all the data from the previous year
What's not so great: if you go back to a section, the check boxes have to be picked again

Great Stuff

In the business expense section, in addition to seeing how much was deducted previously, I'd like to see the definitions I gave for the previous years deductible expenses. Some of the categories are vague and its always a challenge to figure out where I put some expenses. Seeing my definition would be a great help with that. At least I'd feel I was being consistent with my deductions (right or wrong).
What's great about it: Logical Format. Easy to use.
What's not so great: Lacks some minor detail

I've been using the product for many years. I like the product since most of the entries are easy. I like the download feature for W2s and Broker 1099s.
I would like to see support for some of the business topics expanded.
What's great about it: Most entries are easy
What's not so great: Some self employed topics hard to understand
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Skimpy on State Guidance

I have used TurboTax for many years and always use the step-by-step instructions. I have always found it to be very helpful. However, the 2015 state returns (I had to file 2 due to a move) step-by-step asked me for a lot of additional information without providing much guidance like 'Learn More' hotlinks in the federal return. It would be helpful to have these in the state returns as well.
What's great about it: Great Federal Return Guidance
What's not so great: Missing or no guidance for State returns

Turbo tax does not do the state of Iowa correctly

If you are an Iowa resident filing status 3 make sure you check it carefully. Turbo Tax does not do it correctly.
