Not as good as previous years

This year needed the home & business version. The program froze repeatedly on my computer (iMac) forcing me to shut down and reboot. Very frustrating.
What's great about it: step by step instructions, download forms
What's not so great: program froze on my iMac frequently
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

This is the only way to file taxes every year. I've been using Turbo Tax for several years and this makes filing a lot easier.

Easy step-by-step

The normal functions like entering W2, 1099s, and itemized deductions are pretty easy. Filling out other income from property rental and improvements on the rental are not so easy.
What's great about it: Ste-by-step is easy to follow
What's not so great: Hard to find somethings for people used to filling out paper forms.

I like that it does all the calculations for you. No need to worry about a math error. Very clear instructions.

What's not so great: not including sate filling as part of the service without a substantial charge.

Good but a couple of problems

On the whole a good program. I've used it for over 20 years and shall continue. This year there was a minor problem: the screens for applying overpayment to next year's estimated taxes were hidden and had to be tracked down via the topic list. A larger problem, which has recurred several years in a row, involves the handling of 1099-MISC forms. In my case I had some that were relevant to a business and some that were not; it was confusing to see them under Business Income and then duplicated under Personal Income, and even more confusing to have to edit the personal ones under Business. In addition, one 1099-MISC form listed additional (unspecified) income on line 3, and it was not at all apparent that I had to make out a separate, hypothetical form in TurboTax; I had to search through the Help Center to find out.
What's great about it: Overall well-organized; appreciated by a long-time user.
What's not so great: Confusion between business and non-business 1099-MISC.

2015 Taxes Most Complex Ever-and tax rates 2 high

The program is quite good at math. However, it lacks bookmarks, which differ from flags. For example, if you have multiple farms and treat them separately, you may have items, like a vehicle, used on them all. So the info has to be the same farm to farm. This year I owed a little, and now I have to pay estimated taxes - the program should have helped me avoid that. Bought Audit Defense - as usual. Also had to pay a fee to file state. Separate billing, same company. Why can't you set it up to be a single transaction?
What's great about it: Loads on my iMac fine.
What's not so great: If I had to back up to check, to continue I had to begin at the start of a section.

Dependable as Ever

Have been using your products for business and home since the 1980's and have never been disappointed. One year I tried another for personal taxes and quickly returned to Turbo Tax at the first chance.
What's great about it: Transferred last year's data and you have all the answers.
What's not so great: Would like to see more free state simple software.

This is my 5th year using turbo tax! It is so easy to follow the step by step process. I will continue to use Turbo Tax for years to come.
