Took away the fear!

It really did make the process so much better and I saved a few dollars from what I would have been charged by my former tax person. I like the feeling of control, too.
What's great about it: Good directions. It made it very easy.
What's not so great: I thought it said that I got one free state return, but I was charged!

Boosted my Refund

I was able to go from paying the feds last year to getting a refund this year. with basically the same income levels

smooth sailing

this product is very good for first time e-filers and also to the experienced one.
but i found following not correct--

1. I did not find transparent instructions for filing ACA correctly.
2. For state of Louisiana on schedule E line 4c, it is not calculating correct, if there are more then 1 retiree age 65+ (spouse from a qualified retirement). it should multiply 6000 by # of retiree over age 65. That''s what I think.

Have used Turbo Tax since 2000. . Had used Tax Cut up to that time. Have full confidence in the program, and when I do have a question, help is available. This year I had only two questions and those concerned Sch. K--1 One LP has a Bermuda address and the program would not accept it. The other question concerned how to delete one of the drop down boxes. Representative I talked to answered both questions in one call.

Slipping

Turbo Tax has served me for years. I use Home and Business. But the past few years, and certainly 2015 version, it appears that TT increasingly masks the steps and connections so it has gotten harder to understand what is being asked for, what the impact is or how to repair errors. For example, I erroneously entered my health insurance premiums in the self employed section and then again in the personal-health/medical section. Turbo Tax did not catch this error, I suspected something wasn't right as my tax due seemed low. Finding the error and figuring out how to remove the erroneous entry was 3x as complex as making the entries themselves, including going to the form itself and blindly working through what needed to be done. When I got these premiums correctly placed in one location, my tax bill rose $2k, sad but correct. Again, TT never caught this. A rollover from a 403b to an IRS, which involved no tax liability, was a nightmare to get right. Again, I have used TT for more than 12 years, Deluxe, Premium, Home& Business. i depend on it and need it to be dependable.
What's great about it: Familiar, loads past information
What's not so great: Harder and harder to drill down to figure out what's happening

Retired Tax Preparer

I did taxes for the largest national tax chain and have used pro software. Turbo tax is much easier and friendlier to use. Questions are easily answered right while working on a return. I never need to go to my books when using Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Great and Easy to Use
What's not so great: None
