Had to call Turbo Tax support to clarify Retirement Income Exclusion.
Third party designee for my minor daughter difficult to figure out how to enter my name and phone -- had to go back to the Forms view.
What's great about it: Guided step by step process very good and thorough.
What's not so great: Retirement Income Exclusion Allowed not clear at all.

Navigation through the various screens is not that intuitive. It would be nice if there was some sort of site map/graphical view representation of the organization of the primary pages somewhere.
We end up flagging various pages that we've found embedded deep in a flow so that we can get back to them without endless searching, but that's cumbersome and confusing.
Particularly confusing is where to put the home office deduction info if you have both W-2 and 1099 income and a home office which you use for both. We experimented with each and both and think we did it right (and to best advantage) but aren't sure.
Overall, it got the job done okay (I think), but it would be nice if there was some preliminary information about where best to input different types of deductions - "personal" (W-2, schedule A ) or "business" (1099, cash from own business (schedule C). BTW, "personal" and "business" aren't really great differentiating headings for those categories.
Also, particularly annoying is when going back through previously entered detailed flows is it not retaining all your previous selections. Many pages require you to re-check some boxes every time you browse through, which gets very old.
What's great about it: Seems to handle the ever-changing tax code well
What's not so great: Usability could be improved

Worst year yet with Turbotax

You seem to want incredible amounts of detail re MLP k-1's, much of which is not available on the k-1 forms from the partnerships. You want repair on 1116's, which won't be easily produced by the program. Payment for audit defense was nearly impossible, because of requiring a name (no middle initial) different from how it's shown on the credit card. In short, the program is rapidly going downhill in my view.
What's great about it: can't think of any
What's not so great: k-1 treatment, no facility for applying refund to est tax
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Relieved my headache

I have used Turbo tax in various stages over the years and it has always helped me do my taxes easily. It helps me to organize income and deductions and put them with the returns in case of any review from the IRS. I used another preparer once and the cost was ridiculous for what was done, that I could have done myself with Turbo tax, but it wasn't my choice to go there. Lesson learned.
What's great about it: Walk through and explained all questions I had on selling a home
Pros: I moved
