For the first time in many years I am very disappointed with Turbo Tax. TT 2015 for home and business would not download on my desk top computer even after more than 7 HOURS of work with your Geeks. I had to resort to a old laptop to file this year. Meanwhile, all of my TT files are locked up in my desk top and unavailable. This may be my last year with TurboTax.
What's great about it: always available
What's not so great: Turbo Tax 15 would not dowload on my computer

Turbo Tax 2015

Not clear trying to do my local RITA tax w/ T Tax!
What's great about it: Pretty straight forward
What's not so great: Sometimes it left me hanging trying to answer a question that was specific. The local RITA form is not clear and easy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Suggestions for improvement to CA State return.
on April 5, 2016

Two things to watch out for if you are using this for a California state return: If using the Home & Business edition to file a single member LLC return, TurboTax automatically assumes that you haven't already paid the $800 CA LLC franchise tax. But if you *have* already paid it, the only way to get that credit into your CA return seems to be to go into forms view, search for the appropriate line item, and enter the credit manually. The other glitch is that TurboTax for some reason does not transfer direct deposit account number information information from the Federal return. Once again, it requires going into forms view, finding the right lines, and entering it manually.
What's great about it: Does 99% of the work, imports stockbroker information flawlessly.
What's not so great: A couple of glitches in the California state return

Great Program for All Situations
on April 5, 2016

I have been a user of this software since the ChipSoft days and couldn't imagine doing my taxes without it. This year our refund was a bit more complicated with a business, employee home office expenses, and a rental property. I have had the opportunity to compare this to competitive products and find the printouts much more readable. I did have a question regarding depreciation on our rental property and was actually transferred to a CPA experienced in this area as well as the program. He took the time to walk me through each step making sure I was attributing the proper characterization to each expense. This was not clear in the program which was attempting to take a major renovation as a single write-off for the calendar year. I received an email follow-up detailing our conversation to keep for my records. That's what I call support.
What's great about it: Great formatting & all forms needed if purchasing proper program
What's not so great: Minor issues including returning to program after updates and inability to complete or carry over Bank info to State
Pros: I bought or sold investments
