Using Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax program is very good. I am a new self employed entrepreneur and feel confident that my return is complete. I did need to do some independent google searching when the forum answers were confusing. It would also be great if the IRS links took you directly to the publication you needed. I used the chat last year and the person did not know how to answer my question so I did not use this year. All in all this is a superb program and would give a 4.5 if available.
What's great about it: Walks you through all steps, Community forum is good.
What's not so great: Some IRS references do not take you to where you need to go. Some answers on the forum are confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

1099 misc confusing

figuring out where to put gas royalties and ag payments was not good.
not being able to enter field drains in the allowed category was not good either

W-2 errors

The W-2s the government produced for the government sponsored move did not include codes for state ID or locality. Turbo Tax would not let us e-File without that information even though it was not included on the return. We can't give what the employer doesn't provide, in this case the government.
What's not so great: W-2 requirements. Finding how to put in Foreign tax paid listed on a 1099DIV

Good, but could be much better

In general the walk-throughs are good and useful, asking a lot of questions and even guessing whether a situation applies to you. However, if you enter an incorrect choice, it is often very difficult to correct that choice or find the right screen to do so. The best advice is to search for the topic and try to find the correct input page there.
What's great about it: Lots of questions and useful prompts
What's not so great: Gets lost and difficult to make corrections
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy and thorough

Very thorough and complete. Answered questions along the way so you never felt like you were making an uninformed decision.
What's great about it: Worked through every item point by point
What's not so great: Seems to be an error in placement of office expense on Schedule C

BETTER AND FASTER THAN EVER!!!

I switched to TurboTax last year, and couldn't believe how much better it was than H&R BLOCK. Faster, easier to use, yet it offered so much more that specifically applied to my situation. Sure, I had to get all the pertinent information together, receipts, expenses, but with two businesses and retirement income and a student now taking college courses, this package asked all the right questions. I highly recommend TurboTax!
What's great about it: Did it all in a few hours.
What's not so great: Nothing that I can think of-just keep up the good work!

Not Rocket Science

I am 70 years old and have never done a tax return in my life (my wife did them). I can't believe how easy it is with TurboTax.
I also did my daughter's return for her personal and business, both federal and state including obamacare. Piece of cake. Thank you TurboTax!!!!!!!

I Love Turbo Tax

In the past I had to give my tax preparer the info I had to gather,
now while I still have to gather the info,
I enter it myself and its done.
